The Railway Inn in Winchester

Haven't been here for nearly 15 years.The pub itself has changed alot and not for the better I'm afraid.The back room for watching bands which I did is still awesome and if you like good music venues then this is a must.But as I said earlier, it's not as good as it used to be....neutral gender toilets indeed....get with it

Cracking pub. Nice garden and fab music. Sound quality at the last gig was amazing.

Recently updated grassroots music venue with a great team running it. Gig room has good sound and light, with a low stage

Ok sadly no cask ales on my visit , and the IPA run out half way through the evening ..Shame ..Overall a good venue , a bit small but a good atmosphere..

Great live music venue - only one in Winchester? Certainly best known. Stuff on most days of week.

The Railway Inn is a great pub-venue. It is nicely decorated and feels homely. There is plenty of seating inside and in the pub garden.The venue is on the smaller side, but this caters for the local music scene. Note the venue space is still much bigger than an ordinary pub can offer. So there is a proper sounds system, space for a full band and a second bar area.I have had the pleasure of playing there a few times and the sounds has been good. The size and decor of the place make for a great vibe.

My friend introduced me to this place as he knew I love Squeeze & one half, Chris Difford was doing a gig there.Towards the right of the bar is a door taking you to The Barn & toilets (no disabled facilities hence only 4 stars). Once through the door, via the ticket booth & hand stamped u enter a room with a bar, & fully equipped stage. There were rows of seats & you were free to sit where u liked..obvious my friend & I were earlier enough to bag front row & you cannot stretch your leg out without touching the stage. It felt very intimate. It's a low stage so standing at the gig is really not an option otherwise if you were unfortunate to be at the back you would not be able to see.The concert itself....WOW. Supported by Arcalia a 3 piece band who came on for half an hr & sang songs from their current album. Chris came on after and gave us a whistle stop speech of his life in and out of Squeeze including a variety of their hits along the way. Chris's humour is infectious & there was plenty of audience interaction to keep u fully entertained. I absolutely loved it & would definitely recommend a visit here if you love the up close & personal experience
