The Royal Oak in Winchester

Didn't realise this place was here as down a tiny alley, but worth it!! Staff were lovely and friendly, great choice of beer, good choice of food as well!! We both had Steak skewers with chips and peppercorn sauce! It was very nice!! Didn't take long to arrive either! Will be back next time in Winchester!!

Probably better on a non six nations rugby Saturday, if you want a seat and a quiet relaxing pint. Good range of beers. The food looks good.

Absolutely amazing experience at The Royal Oak in Winchester today. Started out in the beer garden soaking up the sun until it was a bit too chilly, then took refuge in the downstairs of the main bar which is part of the oldest pub in the UK. We have been looked after tremendously by Ally, an incredible asset to the team. We will making a return visit.

This is in fact the Oldest Pub in England. It was one of my favourite student haunts when I went to King Alfred's. I revisited with my wife and it's still a great pub with amazing service and great food. Did you know that it was originally owned by England's first Crown Queen in Anglo Saxon times? A couple of Aussie just looking for an old English pub to have a few at and stumbled upon this hidden gem. We were welcomed by the staff with a great variety of beers, ciders and enjoyable hot meals.Overall would definitely recommend for anyone to come down and meet their team.

My Wife and I had a few days in Winchester for the Christmas Market. On our last night we visited the Royal Oak Inn. Served by the friendly, lovely, bundle of energy that is Danni we had a couple of drinks and a meal. The Inn has a nice ambiance and a good food Menu which varies depending on the time of day. The food was only a short wait, and was hot, and tasty. The Staff (especially Danni) were very Friendly. It's well worth a visit. Debbie & Damian

Nice old pub with plenty of character not very busy when we were there good outside drinking area got plenty of history got a good selection of drinks not very well sign posted could easily miss it if you don't no its there friendly staff needs promoting better

Great pub with very friendly and helpful staff. Loved the Pimms and the history. There’s more space than you would think at first, so definitely worth checking it out if in Winchester.
