Quiet, on a midweek lunchtime. Well kept beer and cider, good food. We had fish and chips, a big portion of both, chilli cheeseburger and a homemade beef burger. Desserts of lemon cheesecake and ameretti fool also very nice. Dog friendly throughout.

This pub has plenty of charm & olde worlde character. The menu choice was incredible, the food was fantastic & the staff certainly knew how to look after their guests.

Booked a table 3 weeks in advance and we were put in a side room near the gents toilets. When I booked Iād been told there was going to be a new menu, but that didnāt happen. We had no idea whether it was table service or order at the bar. I keep seeing on Facebook that thereās a specials board but this wasnāt pointed out or explained. We ordered. I specified I required Gluten Free. Few minutes later, we were served bread and oil. Bread was not gluten free. Glad I checked!Only one gluten free starter on offer which was okay, but nothing Iād ever order again. It was covered in croutons so I asked if it was GF. I was told they must be. I decided not to risk it. I didnāt want to be ill for a week and they didnāt seem to care enough for me to trust them.My friend couldnāt eat her starter of lamb croquettes as they were so hard and dry.Mains were better but not great. Lamb was dry, roasted ācherryā tomatoes were huge vine tomatoes and the dauphinois werenāt great either. We paid as quickly as possible and went to Greens for dessert. The lady working behind the bar was trying to serve us and everyone else downstairs, but was rushed off her feet. I think there are tables upstairs too but no idea why we didnāt get to sit up there. We sat looking out the window commenting on why there were so many cobwebs! I think a spring clean is needed

The only place to be in Wickham. Great welcome fro friendly staff even if they are packed out. Great ambience and the ale is good. If you want a zero alcohol g and t then they have Gordon's 00. Such a nice place unlike the soulless Fullers pub and miserable mine host next door.

Me my husband and friends visited this lovely little pub at Wickham yesterday Friday 28th January 2022, our friends booked it, we arrived and taken upstairs to our table, our friends were joining us.The atmosphere was lovely and homely, we had a little button that you use to call for service, we ordered drinks and our evening meal. Our food came at the appropriate time and looked very delicious and we took photos, the food was lovely and delicious no issues at all, and when we were done we ordered pudding, easy to call for service, our puddings looked lovely and delicious and of course they were.Overall the service was excellent and the food was also delicious and excellent.Highly recommended and we would come again.

Unfortunately this is the best bar in Wickham. The beer is well kept. The bar staff are awful. They are more interested with socialising. High prices, limited knowledge, poor social skills. To be fair, better than the King's Head.

Had an excellent meal here mid January. Staff were so friendly, extremely efficient, attentive and helpful. Food was great and all very reasonably priced. We will be back!
