The Thomas Lord in Winchester

Excellent menu, really good vegetarian selection. Big open spaces with lots of ventilation. Would have got 5* for the charm of our greeting and quality of coffee, but lunch service on a sunny day overwhelmed the small staff and things ran slow. Food was top notch. Just leave time to get and enjoy it. That vegetarian scotch egg was tip top, and the meze board was superb.

We were staying at a nearby campsite, and had walked in to West Meon, along the old railway line. We stopped for a drink, and the staff were very pleasant and friendly, and the beer was very nice and refreshing! We sat out in the beer garden in the sunshine, very enjoyable.A nice 'refreshment stop' which fuelled us for our walk back along the Meon valley trail on to the next village and then back to our campsite.West Meon is a little gem of a village and so nice to see it still has a pub!!

Lovely quaint village and good location. Comfortable bed and linen and towels immaculate. Sadly the cleanliness of the rooms was poor. Hadn't been cleaned very well, very dusty, loads of cobwebs and dog hair everywhere. Sound insulation very bad and could hear the next door occupants. A good selection of breakfasts and we tried quite a few and thank you Will for looking after us every morning.

It is a lovely pub in a great location and I’ve had good meals there in the past but on this occasion the food was extremely disappointing,, we both ordered duck breast - it was over cooked, chewy and tasteless. My starter was inedible. The staff were very nice and apologised but the food was just unacceptably bad.

Fabulous food, wine and beers, friendly efficient staff, and nice atmosphere. The only downside is getting a parking space - but that's because it's just so popular! I recommend you book in advance to eat.

Lovely old 18th century pub in W. Meon. Nice old timbered bar with large fireplace. Very friendly and helpful staff providing good service. Excellent food, good selection of beers and wines. Great atmosphere, lots of locals (always a good sign). Large outdoor undercover and garden dining areas, must be great in summer. Well worth a visit.

Enjoyed Sunday lunch here with our friends who have been a few times. We all had the roasts, Beef and chicken and all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. A lovely atmosphere in the dining area, amazing food and lovely staff. Will definitely be coming back.

We travelled here especially because it had a Michelin honourable mention. We were very disappointed. It was FREEZING in the restaurant and the radiators didn’t work - so we were uncomfortably cold all the way through the meal despite keeping our coats and gloves on! Other diners were complaining about the cold too. Three main items from the menu were unavailable (and we were there at the beginning of service). The food was average - fine, but really no better than our local pub. Goodness knows where the Michelin mention came about. The best thing about our experience was the waitress, who was very attentive, apologetic and kind (5 stars for her) - obviously not her fault about the heating! Definitely would not come back again.

My friend and I stayed here for two nights after she won a Facebook competition at Christmas. When we arrived the staff were so friendly and helpful. They showed us to our room (which is located in a lodge in the pub garden) and it was an absolute delight! The room had everything you could possibly need for a break away from home. We'd booked a table in the pub for dinner that evening so after unpacking and a little freshen up we headed to the pub. Again the staff were friendly and attentive. We both had the fish and chips and we both agreed that it was the best fish and chips we'd ever had! The homemade tartare sauce made all the difference and the fish was beautifully cooked.We went back to the room for the night and unfortunately neither of us slept very well as it was so hot, despite turning the heating off! Unfortunately due to the nature of the lodge there were no windows we could leave open for the night to get some fresh air in.We went for breakfast the next morning and again there was everything you could possibly want included a cooked menu if that took your fancy. We opted for the continental and it was lovely. We went exploring for the day but came back for a cup of tea in the bar and then a glass of wine. It was comfortable and had a nice atmosphere.Our next night was much cooler as we'd managed to turn the heating off and the radiators down (just in case) and again breakfast the next morning was lovely.Not only is the Thomas Lord in a lovely little village but the staff are so attentive and friendly. In particular the Manager (unfortunately didn't catch her name), there was nothing that seemed too much trouble for her and she always had a smile, she also always seemed to be there no matter what time of the day!I wouldn't hesitate in coming back here for food and to stay (even though it's only about half an hour away from where I live). We had a wonderful and relaxing break and I would thoroughly recommend the Thomas Lord! Thanks guys!

7 of us ate here on a Friday night, beautiful. Service, food (my beef blade softly and juicily fell apart), beer and the lovely Malbec were top class. Just a totally great pub
