Lovely local hotel where I meet with friends once a month. We have lunch in their cosy comfortable lounge and its always pleasant. Sometimes they need reminding to bring cutlery, crisps (that go with sandwich lunch), etc but on the whole a good experience. Sandwiches are always well filled accompanied by crisps and (tiny) dressed salad along with a pot of tea. Very reasonable price and experience. To be recommended.

Hotel staff friendly and professional. Location good.We were in a ground floor room in the wing of the property overlooking the pretty gardens. I would say the rooms are due a refurbishment, having to enter a room to find faux leather headboards that are all peeling off is really not attractive, there were even bits on the bed! The tap in the bathroom was loose and in need of repair.Breakfast was good.

Comfortable unpretentious hotel. Staff friendly and efficient. Breakfast relaxed with buffet style service. Dinner was faultless and very enjoyable. All the family were very impressed and said they would stay again.

Room was small. Don't expect what you see as an example on the website . Take my advice and do not add the breakfast to your bill. Very basic bland / cheap produce. The car park is £10 per day which I don't remember being mentioned when we booked. We only stayed there as my daughter had been given a voucher from "Buyagift" which she passed on to us. We payed extra to upgrade as it was the closest to us and looked good in their online photos. The place has history but honestly I would have been happier at Premier Inn.

After a couple issues with our room it was quickly sorted by Mel. She found us another room quickly and even upgraded us. It was my partner's birthday and he received a card ...some fruit and biscuits in the room. Mel also bought us up a bottle of wine. The hotel is beautiful and obviously old. Some areas need a bit of TLC.All of the staff were polite helpful and efficient. The breakfast was good ... although there were no vegetarian sausages the first morning...even though I had emailed ahead. This was rectified the second morning.Would definitely stay again.

Great location with staff, despite Covid restrictions, who couldn't do enough for us. The room was comfortable and clean with a view over the garden. We enjoyed both our dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Over the Christmas holiday we spent three consecutive nights in different hotels and the Winchester Royal was the best of them!

Sadly we were planning on staying for a friends 40th birthday . Their were three of us hoping to attend . I found a great deal on line including a massage deal with a local company . The hotel would also provide afternoon tea , 2 course dinner with Prosecco and full breakfast and over night stay for £143 pp for a standard double room. The price online was based on 2 persons staying . I spoke to a young girl to find out what the single supplement would be for the other room she said it is normally at £30 which sounded reasonable . She rang me back the next day only to say after speaking to the manger they would be charging full price !! So you pay for 4 people on the deal but only 3 come ..... why I asked would you have to pay full price for the deal when you would not being having the food the massage and all they were offering and all the trimmings she blamed the massage ??!! Bad costumer service , I my self have run a business that had to shut during the pandemic, if your desperate to make money which it appears it’s a way to put off your potential clients not invite them !!! Just lost them selves a few hundred quiz for being so greedy !

Room/bed comfortable with good facilities. Nice bar, lounge and garden restaurant too where a lovely buffet breakfast is on offer for £12 per person.Arrive early for a space in the car park which is £10 per night. We were not told this until we checked out.Sadly our bath and sink surrounds were dirty on arrival but this was soon rectified. Also the Ladies Toilet on the ground floor was very untidy and seemed to be the same at both times I visited on our first day.Not good especially during these Covid times.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Large bed two 3 foot beds joined, nice bathroom fully up to date and very quiet at night. Staff were friendly and service good. We ate at the hotel restaurant on one evening and the food, service, and menu choices were good. The breakfast was particularly nice with decent quality bacon and sausages, fruit and cereals, there is also a lovely garden at the hotel which I'm sure would be appreciated by guests visiting in the warmer weather. We would visit again.
