The Alma in Windsor and Maidenhead

Really wanted to like the Alma but sadly it was one of the worst pub experiences I've ever had.Arrived at 5.45pm after a trip to Legoland with the kids, everyone hungry. Bar staff told us we had to be out by 7.30 as no kids after that time - no problem I told them, we'll eat in ten minutes! Over an hour later no food had arrived, off pint of real ale had been returned and kids were just about reaching breaking point. Food finally turns up just before 7pm.Kids mini roast was missing both peas and gravy - just a plain chicken breast and chips. Staff said the chef would rectify that. Started cutting up chicken for kids to eat to find both meals were completely raw inside - not just rare but translucent, raw chicken. Thank goodness that our kids are so young we still cut their food up or we wouldn't have noticed and could easily be staring down the barrel of double food poisoning. Staff again said the chef would rectify. Ten minutes later, still no food for kids. Our own meals were very average but at least cooked although had to share what we could with the children as they were famished by this point.Eventually we gave up and decided to leave and go buy sandwiches from a service station. Despite the obviously terrible experience the manager only reluctantly refunded the cost of the children's meals and nothing to compensate for the overall terrible experience.I can't believe this pub is always that bad but on this experience alone I would recommend everyone avoid at all costs.

This is my local pub and i visited twice last week. First time was for a special occasion on a Wednesday afternoon. Sat in the large back room on our own. Friendly welcome but when we went to order food the bar staff said the chef was ill, it would have good to know that when we arrived. Deliveroo to the rescue! One of the bar staff came over at about 1830 and said that it's their policy that no children are allowed on the premises after 1930. No problem, but it would be good to have this policy more prominently displayed.I returned on Saturday night at about 2030 and was suprised to see several children in the pub, including one sat at the bar. I asked the barman about the no kids after 1930 policy and a chap who I assume was the manager who was there said that it is their policy, but they were confused about the clocks changing! We left an hour or so later and the kids were still there.I have absolutely no problem with children being in the pub, but if there is a policy it would should be applied consistently.

Good range of drinks, and yummy food. It was very busy but the staff worked very efficient and did their best to make you feel welcome. They were also able to give good advice about our drinks.

Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere, very tasty food. Good selection of beer. The place is child and dog friendly ☺️

We had Sunday lunch here and were not disappointed.The food was delicious and good-sized portions. What made the experience even more enjoyable was the friendly manner with which the staff went about their business. Nothing was too much trouble and particular mention to Jess who did a great job securing me a rather large piece of banoffee pie - we shall be returning again very soon!

An old typical pub where you can eat good main courses. In summer, they have a garden and on thursday night they play music. They welcomed us very well

This place has been totally transformed by the current managers. They have done an amazing job and are excellent hosts

Just the best roast I've had in ages. Pork belly was immensely flavoursome and the crackling was absolutely perfect...crispy without breaking teeth. Make sure you book if you plan on eating on the weekend, the pub is small but hugely popular.

A proper local pub with proper pub grub. If you want a relaxed, unpretentious night down the pub with good food, this is the place to check out. The food is huge in portion and not designed to look fancy but taste great. With most dishes coming with a literal pile of chips you’re not going to leave here hungry. We tried the fish and chips, scampi and a steak sandwich and they left us all more than satisfied.

Cheeky little pub highly recommended and probably the best pub burger I've ever had.Large outdoor space, suitable for families with kids. Very friendly staff with a lovely landlord who takes time to say hello to his customers.Overall a really excellent experience, next time I'm up from London I'm definitely paying you another visit.
