The Olde Bell in Windsor and Maidenhead

Beautiful quaint old beamed Inn that has been updated to a high modern standard.The reception area is a little odd & fairly nondescript.Our room was extremely clean , beautiful, furnished to a high - spec, with modern stylish bathroom and Insta-worthy wallpaper and soft furnishings.We booked this hotel because it stayed it was dog-friendly and our dog was entered into a dog show so needed a place to stay.However, upon arrival we were advised that our dog could only be allowed in specific very small areas of the premises.Outside was of course allowed and as it was nice weather the first evening this was acceptable.The vegetarian options were few and they had run-out of everything so the chef spoke with me to 'rustle something up' that was pretty expensive for what amounted to little more than a starter and left me still hungry.For breakfast though it was chilly and we were not allowed in the main dining area inside and instead were told to eat breakfast in a gloomy dark very small room that had such tiny low tables we had to bend down over our cooked breakfast or hold up the plate to eat because the seats were much higher than the tables.Add to that being so far from the main dining room we and a large family of about 6 or 7 were frequently left unattended without tea or other drinks and lengthy waits of sometimes 25 mins between asking for things like the breakfast or any condiments, drinks, etc.Tea was cold by the time it reached us and service seemed to miss out this room completely.I felt bad for the family that had an even worse table than us with the 6 or 7 of them sat at the only other table balancing plates of cooked breakfast on their laps with two of them having small children to feed also.I don't understand how you can say you accept dogs when you are made to feel banished to 'storage room' especially when most dog owners that take their pet to eateries are extremely responsible and the dogs just lie on the floor.It was a shame this let down the whole experience unfortunately especially when the rooms are of such a high standard.

Not the Olde Bell I remember from before the pandemic. It may have new owners now.The menu is more traditional pub grub; no more the expensive but very tasty mini bar treats of before. We had fish and chips in the bar area, due to our dog being with us. The food was fine but nothing special: the batter had a bit too much oil, the chips were ok, the peas ok too. In the past the pub had a bit of magic in their food; this is not the case now.

2night stay in room 3 with our 7 month old Staffy. Room was beautiful, spotlessly clean. Every area of the building & pub was clean & filled with character & charm. The staff were so lovely & friendly, we were made to feel very welcome ( even with our pup ). We wouldn’t stay anywhere else when we return to the area ❤️

My husband and I got married in the Malt House on the 8th January. The venue is beautiful, quirky and intimate - perfect for our wedding of 60 guests. We had the most amazing day and couldn't fault the team. Before the wedding they were lovely particularly around the lockdown uncertainty. Then on the day they were amazing, they couldn't do enough for us. Food was excellent, we got a lot of compliments and the fires on in each room was a lovely touch for a winter wedding. Having the whole building to ourselves for the day and the night made it feel like a very exclusive. Overall, fantastic value for such a special venue. Would highly reccommend for your special day. Thanks to all the team for making our day so lovely.

Absolutely amazing room, super happy with it. View is beautiful and the grounds were nice for a little walk. Reception staff were lovely and very helpful. Would definitely recommend and come back.

Attended a wedding there. Drink in the pub with a beautiful open fire, then a very short walk to the wedding venue followed by the reception. Lovely setting. Beautiful food. Attentive staff. The gardens looked inviting for sitting but, it is January!!

We stayed here 9 to 13th January 2022 for my 60th birthday. It is a lovely inn in a beautiful area. The staff are extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast and dinner were included in our package and the food is of a high standard. Our special thanks go to Wendy and Chloe for making our stay very memorable. We had a great time and would highly recommend.

We booked a standard double room with booking.com checkout was smooth and efficient and the lady that checked us in was lovely which is always a plus.We were allocated room 10 which is in the main Inn.The room is very spacious with a comfortable bed, large screen tv, small table and chairs and a claw foot free standing bath in the main room which was very nice .Their is also a ensuite bathroom with shower .Their is spacious car parking directly across the road and at the rear of the Inn is a small wood for dog walking if you bring your pet like we did.We did not use the bar or restaurant but the inside of the Inn is lovely.Their are numerous walks from the Inn and a small shop at the top of the village which has a good range of items.Bad points.The room although lovely was absolutely freezing, Their was an oil filled radiator however this made no difference at all.Touch cleaning has to be requested due to covid the day before however I did expect Toiletries including toilet roll to be replaced and bins emptied during the 5 days we stayed also the coffee, teas ect to be replenished none of which was done .I have met lovely staff on reception but on a couple of occasions I came across very ignorant individuals.We use hotels around London for work purposes all year round in our experience on a rating 1/10 we would rate this Inn at a 7 however the customer care at a 5We had booked to return in 2 days time but after a very cold attitude in reception we canceled we booked another local hotel.

We stopped here for a drink, one afternoon. There is a car park opposite, but if you are fortunate enough limited on street parking spaces are available. Dogs are permitted outside and in the bar area. Although we didn't eat, the food being served looked delicious. The staff are welcoming and friendly, providing a good service. We didn't pre-book and tables were available. The restaurant area looked very pleasant, with some guests partaking in afternoon tea.A super place to visit.

Looks lovely from outside and unique buildings turned into rooms but the state of the rooms are disgusting lack of cleanliness and some dangerous parts. First room had broken kettle which you could see the element and second a light switch with only 1 screw. Staff were friendly and only saving grace was the lovely breakfast. I do not recommend staying here and will not be returning
