Had our dinner here as always thought I should try this place looking at its name ‘Emperor of India’. Lol, I bluffed myself . So we went for dinner here having high expectations, ordered 2 beers, 2 garlic nans, 1 keema rice, 1 chicken biriyani, 1 mutton dish, 4 papadams… the food service was quick and hence I have given 1 star. Rest was nightmare. Had to dig into the bowls to find lamb pieces , and even in the chicken biriyani there were hardly any chicken. The taste was ofcourse nothing near to the Indian standard (speaking this being an Indian) , very oily. Well we somehow finished the food as had no other choice as we were hungry and kids were sleepy. Then the bill came and any guesses how much it was ?????? £70 .. I had no idea why on earth we spent so much for such minimum food with minimum quantity and not even near to Indian taste!!! Must have charged us for the oil 😂… and then the story did not end there , my son had a bad bad tummy ache and I woke up 2 times in the middle of the night to rush to the toilet !!! Nightmare!!! Something was not right with the food, and well ofcourse the money they took (robbed) from us was not justified. Please please if you don’t want to get ripped off or do not want to get sick, DO NOT GO HEFE TO GET FOOLED!!!!!

Good atmosphere, interesting menu and above all, fantastic food. Generous portions of delicious curries, some of which were very imaginative and show a bit more imagination than the norm.

Great ambience, splendid customer service and couldn't fault the food! Although it was very busy, staff were quick to serve us from starters to main to dessert. Went with my children and they accommodated everyone, nothing was too much for them. Fabulous place to eat and well worth trying the food there - highly recommend it!

I was staying in a nearby hotel so ventured in here on a Tuesday evening to find the place unsurprisingly quiet. The welcome was warm and I was soon tucked in with a cobra and some popadums. This is a large place (an old pub) so I can see it getting busy later in the week.Service was good and my food when it arrived was OK. Nothing earth shattering but it was an above average curry with good service. So why only 3 stars.Because of the price. For what I had, I would expect to pay in the region of about £30 to £35 in a good curry house. But on this occasion the bill was £50!!!There is simply no way to justify that. The food simply wasn't THAT good and the venue simply wasn't that special.Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my meal and the service was good but the menu is simply overpriced compared to similar venues

Booked a birthday meal here with a group of 5. Service was terrible it took an hour for starters. Table we were sat was poor for a birthday even though i asked for special request when booking. Prices are very expensive and for the money we would of hoped the quality of food was excellent, but however was not. Lamb special was not special and was extremely sweet with too many onions and the chicken tikka masala was more like Heinz tomato soup with chicken cubes in it. Overall just avoid unless you want to be ripped off.

The delivery we had was unbelievably bad and I am struggling to understand the validity of some feedback. At £84 for a takeaway for two I was expecting edible food. After tasting most of it was binned. The tandoori was pure salt and the lamb chefs special was so sweet it was disgustingly bad. The naan was ok, bit stodgy. All in all a terrible meal at a crazy price. Avoid

The Emperor of India is the best Indian restaurant in the area by a long way! The people leaving one star reviews are clearly not being objective and leaving these reviews out of spite. The food is fantastic and the service is great. I regularly take my family or go with friends and I've always had a lovely meal. First class curry..ignore the silly reviews and give it a try!

The food is good but no extraordinary flavors, service is good as well

Good food, especially the nans which are fluffy with big bubbles in the dough and the pickles chutney that they serve with their papadom. The service could be somewhat smiling more...Pricey at the end, but rather nice.
