Enjoyed a two night stay for our wedding anniversary and it was perfect in every way. Staff were welcoming, friendly and polite. The room and hotel was lovely; clean and warm. The service and food in The Stables was excellent. Highly recommend this lovely hotel. Looking forward to going back.

Celebrated my sons wedding there and it is a beautiful place. The wedding organiser was attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Food was delicious. The only issue was outside walking from the reception room back towards the main part of the hotel the lighting isn't very good and a set of steps caused a problem for a guest who missed step and fell over.

We have just stayed for two nights at this hotel with our dog. Yes the hotel is old and décor dated but that's what u expect for a very old building like this. It was perfect to be able to open a door in the hotel room and take the dog into the grounds without needing to walk through the hotel. The breakfast did miss tea and coffee or milk on both mornings but the staff quickly went and brought this to us when we asked. I would book again, the price, food, size of room, and dog friendly place was ideal for us.

Stayed a couple times. Rooms were very dated with many broken or run down items. Restaurant is acceptable but nothing special considering the cost. Would stay again if nothing else locally available

Where to start?. Had booked for Christmas Eve for 2 nights, Web site gave a wonderful impression, however, on arrival, 1st thing I noticed no Christmas lights not switched on, it was dark 4pm, so would have expected them to welcome guests arriving and set the atmosphere. In reception a rather tired and sad tree, stuck in the corner. My heart sank, things were not looking great!!.Our room was in the annex. Dated, tired and the carpet was filthy, no working lights, bulbs had not been changed. You wiped your feet leaving the room!!.. and outside the door leading to their grounds... a bag of dog poo!!... 🐕 👌 🤧.Really started to worry bout what we had let ourselves in for.Bar full...no covid restrictions there, dinning room, dark and unwelcoming, an odd napkins the tables but sparsely decorated. Was stopped going any further by a staff member. All in all, decided NOT TO STAY.so now trying to get a refund of some kind, but GENERAL MANAGER (Tom) refuses to take calls. PERMENTANTLY IN MEETINGS.I am so upset by their lack of professionalism and feel completely let down, Christmas 🎄 ruined. They only care about the £'s.Please Tom, if you read this, or any staff member who can help, call me ...you ALL have my number.Written on behalf of Nicola Dean,

Rather disappointing Christmas lunch in the Stables. Very overpriced for the standard of the meal. We booked the 3 pm sitting but had to wait an hour and a quarter in quite a crowded bar awaiting a call to the restaurant. The call never came so we went back to the restaurant to see what was happening. We were seated at a table which staff began laying up. We had already given at initial booking our choices for starter, main course and sweet but we were told the tomato soup was no longer available but was replaced by celeriac. Salmon starter and palette cleanser, however, were good. There were long delays between each course with staff seeming to concentrate on larger parties. We had to ask for the champagne on arrival. This arrived speedily but was warm and flat and appeared that it might have been poured quite some time before it reached us. Turkey and trimmings looked uninviting and one top slice of turkey on one plate looked as though it had been under a heat lamp as the edge was dried. Vegetables for five were very few. Trifle was good, described as sherry trifle but not sure there was much if any, trifle in it. To top it all, there suddenly seemed to be an altercation between staff who chose to group very near to our table and it was impossible not to hear that some staff were unhappy about service. As a retired hotelier, I felt that this was very unprofessional and that some re-training on good function service would not go amiss! After the sweet, we decided to go home rather than wait for possibly another long time for the mince pie! We won't be coming to Cantley House again.

We recently had our wedding at Cantley House, which was an amazing day and night. The place is stunning, the staff especially our wedding organiser Alice and Diane were so great and really helpful. We were looked after till the end and whenever we had issues there was someone to help us. We have nothing to say apart from a massive THANK YOU to Cantley House for a magical day they prepared for us.

Nice old building so makes a nice change from the identical bedrooms of more purpose built hotels. Room was cold on arrival as heating was off & bathroom window wide open. Was a challenge to get the towel heater on & so bathroom was cold for a long time. Breakfast in the stables was good with the hot food cooked to order.

Unfortunately iv been left with no choice but to write a negative review. My friend and I stayed on a Saturday night and the room was freezing cold! We had to sleep in hoodies and tracksuit bottoms and were still frozen. We woke up next morning, there were coffee facilities but no kettle, so couldn't even have a hot drink to warm up. The ancient phone on the side of the bed didn't work so I phoned the reception on my mobile to ask for one. We then decided to have a nice warm shower.. think again! There was no hot water! The sink also wouldn't drain and there was limescale everywhere. For a very basic room, no heating, no hot water and no kettle (charged £120!) You can imagine my complete upset. I expressed my concerns at checkout when we swiftly left to simply warm up in my car! The lady was very unhelpful and not at all apologetic, she simply said 'ill get maintenance to have a look at it' well that doesn't really help me does it. They also take a £50 fee when you check in which they tell you will be returned to you as soon as you check out.. well I received mine 5 days later! Disgusting! I have sent this in an email directly to the hotel and they have chosen to ignore me, hence leaving this review. What an absolute nightmare of a stay! I will not be back! Customer service terrible. I have no positives I'm afraid.

Had a great experience here for my friends wedding. Hotel room was spacious and had a very lovely bed. It's a very cosy hotel and was perfect for the purpose. Hotel room came with a kettle and choice of teas. The morning breakfast buffet was delicious as well and choice of fruits, fried foods, toast etc. And loads of cups of tea and coffee! May revisit for a short weekend stay as well 😊
