Sanpa in Wokingham

Cuisine: British and Spanish

"Sanpa is a small organic family business; growing with customer demands and feedback. I started off on my own selling extra virgin olive oil and fried tomato. The shop used to be located right at the end of Peach street with nothing more than boxes of olive oil and tomatoes. Growth has had to be modest, being entirely reliant on ourselves. Coffee was one of the first requests and investments after the olive oil and tomatoes. We wanted to offer people decent coffee, as this is standard in Spain and in many other parts of the continent. Paella Friday, shortly became a tradition and still is at the new premises. Over time, our customers have voiced how they'd like to go for a coffee, a glass of wine, eat something and not break the bank, but e"

Nice family ran authentic Spanish restaurant with friendly staff. The food was tasty and very presentable. The pardon peppers tapas arrived promptly, whilst the seafood paella took circa 15-20 mins as expected.Tip: is to park at the Denmark Street car park which is opposite and near by.

Always have the best meals here. Great Spanish food, great atmosphere, lovely staff. Highly recommended! 🇪🇦❤️

Paella rice was crunchy, and, at the same time, congealed with the bottom of the paella pan, thus requiring us to pot scrape. They had used a bucket load of salt to make the dish tasty resulting in it being borderline inedible. It was a meat paella but basically they had added a bunch of bones such as chicken wings, bits of rabbit? with very little meat on. My husband and I were awake all night (query: salt overload or MSG??), and had the runs the morning after.

Went for dinner here with my husband. The restaurant set up/decor is quaint and staff very nice and attentive but the food was very average.I think difficult to do good quality Spanish food in the U.K. perhaps when good quality ingredients aren’t readily available.Of what we ordered the Cured Platter, Albondigas en Salsa, Pattaya’s Brava and Pardron Peppers where good. However the Calamar a la Plancha was very rubbery and the Meat Paella was average and missed the socarrat of the paella. All in all was an okay dining experience. If coming back might opt only for the tapas rather than the paella - but currently we feel no rush to return especially when considering the cost compared to food quality.

It's changed a little since we first started visiting in the old location. Menu is restricted slightly now and the atmosphere is missing a little. However as always the food was good.

Excellent service on a busy evening. Lovely, hot fresh tasty food. The tapas were lovely for starters (we shared 3 between the two of us) and the mains were excellent too. Ice cold Estrella. No room for puddings.Nice atmosphere. Staff working hard

Only stopped in for a coffee, in a non chain. May have thrown them. I had not realised time. Was seated, ordered and they got on with it. The coffee for me was spot on. Best I have had in a while, a good roasted bean used. Also serves with a glass of ice water. If the quality of this is anything to go by the food should be good. Maybe another time.

Amazing atmosphere and food. Best paella in Berkshire. Also for take away!

I went with my partner, the service was excellent. We ordered a meat paella, patatas bravas and croquetas. The paella needed a bit more cooking and probably in a low temperature as the rice was a bit hard but was a bit burn on the bottom.Patatas bravas de sauce was really nice, but the potatoes were over cooked.Croquetas were very nice, but just 4.About the paella, I think it should be something more close to reality, as I believe it was pork and Also the vegetables were too big… sometimes feels that the food is for British people and their tastes, and not using original recipes. Anyway, is not the first time I go and won’t be the last again either.

Friendly staff, great service and really nice selection of tapas. Really enjoyed our meal here and will certainly be back. Not many Spanish restaurants in the local area with this level of authenticity so give this a try!!
