Warm welcome and smile from Jenni, Charlie and his colleagues made us settled and at home...being warm and attentive but not intrusive. Fab food, we had fish n chips, fish flakey fish, lovely proper chips and real tartar sauce. Simply delicious and great value!

Lovely pub with a good selection of beers, right next to a river which is nice. Friendly staff. It's located right next to an overpass where some incredible artists have done graffiti at a level that I've never seen before. Definitely worth checking that out while you're at this pub.

We had a wonderful Wednesday evening of drinks . The landlady is a wonderful person . The staff were fantastic too. We have to support our local pubs , show our support by going in and have a drink or two. A nice atmosphere because of the staff and landlady . Thank you.

We booked with the automated phone booking system 2 and a bit hours before our intended arrival time (20:30 on Sunday night). Would have happily booked elsewhere if we had known it was going to be an issue. They had not checked their bookings for at least 2 hours so were surprised when me and my brother walked in. After going to the kitchen (which had aleady closed), the girl on the front desk came back 5 minutes later (I assume after having had some grief from the kitchen but I hope not) to inform us that we could have a small roast portion or fish and chips or pie and chips. We got fish and chips and I got the pie and chips. Gravy was cold. Vegetables were microwaved to hell. Pie and fish were very good. Chips were okay. Too expensive for the amount of care taken with delivery. I appreciate that the kitchen wanted to go home but having agreed to honour the booking we made, I feel like some care should be taken with food going to paying customers. The George that I am familiar with is clearly long gone. Whilst the staff are friendly they are painfully under-trained and inexperienced. Food was prompt (although without the option for starters or anything like that felt longer than it should have). Drinks were prompt but after that service was inattentive with constant apologies about not seeing our booking and complaints about the automated telephone booking system (which I completely understand!), as well as too much chatting amongst their colleagues while we sat there waiting to pay, the staff could do with reminding about some of their priorities. If management/ownership are reading this: please help your staff. They need training otherwise, ultimately, your business will fail. It is not fair on your employees to leave them as they clearly have been thus far. Hopefully some positive changes can be made and soon.

Beautiful pub inside and outside. Plenty of parking spaces. The staff are lovely and attentive. Food was really nice with lots of choice. Will definitely be back!

To be honest, not great. I would have had 5 stars, but if it was not for the attention we got and the service, it would have been much lower.Just 2 waiting staff on to do the whole lunchtime cover.Well Done to you two on that day. 👏Customer service at its best.New years day.......

Had an incredible roast dinner at The George! We had a slight issue with our drinks but it was resolved straight away by the kind and attentive staff. Compliments to the chef, everything on our plates was incredible... particularly the roasties and Yorkshire puds! The meat is divine and the waitress informed us from a local seller too! 100% recommend a trip here, great in summer for outdoors and great in winter for that cozy rustic vibe! Staff great, food great, drinks awesome and good vibes too.

A fantastic pub with a wide range of dishes; plenty to choose from and at reasonable prices. Service was excellent, the food arrived promptly and the waitress was attentive but not intrusive. Looking forward to going back soon.

Decent Greene King. Enjoyable, tasty and interesting menu - Duck and Venison pie was delicious but lacked venison which was a pity. Friendly and efficient staff. Good value for money.
