Expensive and dissapointly average food ,£10 for a glass of white wine ,£180 for 4 people starters and mains and 2 very interesting cheese boards, never had fig and ginger cake served with cheese before 🤔 I won't be hurrying back anytime soon

In general the place is like most pubs just this place is a bit out of the way so it needs something special to get people in. Even though the place wasn't that busy the service was a little lacking and we had to go to them to get the desert order. The main food was fine, nothing special but certainly acceptable but they used frozen veg that really spoiled it. Frozen carrots are just the worst. A good place for a beer but there are better places to eat.

This is a nice pub next to a ford, the staff are quite friendly and it's relatively quiet as it's not on a main road and the ford is closed at the moment. It was nice to sit outside in the sun without any wasps around, just some dragonflies. The reason I gave 3 stars is because of the food, which was very average unfortunately. It wasn't bad, but the chicken with bacon and cheese on top was a burger without the bun, and the scampi was not the best and processed. The chips weren't bad, although I'm pretty certain they were oven chips and a bit limp.Maybe we just had a bad day for food, definitely a nice pub to visit for a drink outside in the sun.

First time visiting this pub and considering its only a mile from my home I can't believe I've never been sooner. Service is very good and the staff extremely helpful and pleasant. The food is very good and good size portions. Can't wait for summer and see what the outside will be like.

Visited 3rd May 2017 around 8pm. Place wasn't packed but there were enough people eating dinner to make us think it was going to be good. It was great! Food was good value, tasty and hot. Beef and ale pie had melt in your mouth steak, not a single piece of gristle or fat, tasty gravy, large puff pastry lid and thick cut chips. Big portions too. Bottle of Vin d'Oc red wine was reasonably priced at £16. Wife had the chicken and mozzarella burger and said it was very good chicken breast meat (and she has high standards!) Beer was good too. Everything was served quickly, which was good as we we're extremely hungry! Good choices on the menu too. Staff very friendly, helpful, polite and cheerful. Definitely recommend. Would like to go back and try lunch or visit when the weather is warmer!

A wonderful place for real pub food. Sunday's are usually packed so booking is recommended. In the summer we often stop for a drink after walking the round either of the two local nature reserves with the dog.Dogs are not permitted in the pub but are well catered for in the beer garden with plenty of fresh water and hooks to attach leads to for hands free dining!

Food was great, service was very slow though. We were initially told we could order in advance, we tried to and were told it wasn't allowed. Some people pn out table had ordered in advance and their food was forgotten. Lovely atmosphere and overall a very nice pub though.

I love this pub! It's no five star gastropub but I give it five stars because it has the best nut roast I have ever had. I order it every time! Their chips are always hot and crunchy even if u leave it as the last thing to eat on your plate. They give you the option between new potatoes or chips and salad vs veg too! Their kitchen staff is quick (no more than 15min with a large group). They have sufficient parking space. They have an indoor and outdoor seating area and their wait staff are really efficient and friendly. If you are ever in Reading / Thames Valley Park - this is the pub (note the river is at the back)!

Myself and 10 friends had a lovely meal here on Friday Night. We sat outside in the garden for a drink first then moved into the restaurant for our meal. The staff were very friendly and efficient. There was a good selection of dishes on the menu to suit everyone. The portions were very large and the food was cooked well and tasted superb.I would recommend this pub restaurant and I intend to visit again soon.
