The Stag & Huntsman at Hambleden in Wycombe

Really enjoyed an overnight stay here during Henley. Really lovely staff and dog! The food was great (dinner and breakfast), as was the wine list. The ambience was typical of a village pub; inviting, relaxed and cosy. We are booked again for next year. Only marked the accommodation down a bit due to the price, but our cottage was roomy and very well equipped. Lovely place.

The location is very rural but what a wonderful location it is. A period village with an old English feel.Parking is free, don't make the mistake of paying for overnight parking. Reception have a parking terminal to remedy this.The rooms were a nice surprise, very comfortable and well equipped.The restaurant, well what can I say, the food was fabulous and you can clearly see real effort goes into the preparation and taste.We couldn't stay to eat breakfast because of our early leaving time. However the kitchen freshly prepared some breakfast baps for take away.A will be returning.

Appalling staff. Wouldn't even hand over a pint until it was paid for. We were told that we couldn't order food from the small bar so we had to go to the "ordinary bar" to order our food. We also had to pay for the food on ordering as we were going to sit in the garden and they didn't trust us. Then went back through the small bar to the garden. When the food arrived they wouldn't bring cutlery, we were told to get it ourselves. Food was expensive and mediocre at best. All this done with a bad attitude from staff. On top of that, parking charges apply to their carpark 24 hrs a day and disabled also have to pay. Awful experience considering we had booked and it wasn't busy.

We had a lovely room. Big enough for us and our dog. Our room was called the pit which suited us perfectly.Parking was no problem, plenty of room. Lovely big garden. Excellent for eating in the sunshine.Excellent breakfast with plenty of choices. Varied menu choice for our evening meal, and treats for our dog. Felt at home.A beautiful village with interesting houses and glorious surroundings.We loved watching and listening to the Red kites as they flew over our heads.One tiny criticism. Somewhere in the neighbourhood there is a peacock who did his best to keep me awake at night.Overall a wonderful stay.

Came here for dinner after a fantastic day at Chiltern Winery. We were looking forward to it as it had great reviews from people we spoke to locally. Lovely country pub with an awesome garden. Service was great. Unfortunately the food was unbelievably expensive for what is was and really poor quality. £26 for steak that was awful…fatty, gristly and tasteless. Frozen, chips that were soggy in the middle and a pile of rocket swimming in oil. We didn’t eat or pay for the steak and were told it was because there was a new chef. Hopefully just an off night!

Excellent country side pub located on Hambleden village, there is 2hr free parking if you are customer of 'Stag & Huntsman' pub by entering your car reg while going inside. Beautiful green and natural beauty around. The stag & Huntsman has very lovely food and drink selection. Worth a visit.

This pub, restaurant and cottage mini break stay was amazing. The food is excellent, staff really cheery and professional. The cottage was gorgeous - really beautiful decor & so comfortable to stay in. Properly delighted with our stay thank you.

Had a lovely stay in this beautiful pub in this gorgeous, tiny village - very picturesque. We stayed for 1 night and already planning our next weekend trip. Enjoyed reading on the sofa with the friendly pub dog ready for some attention whilst enjoying some drinks. Dinner was delicious and the staff super friendly. Sarah was kind enough to mention they have Don Pedro with Amarula which was the perfect end to the day. Another delicious meal for breakfast and we had to drag ourselves away home after a beautiful walk.

The food was good but the service was incredibly slow, and the coffee was horrid; the worst I've ever had. It tasted like a cup of over-heated milk with a drop of coffee. We waited 30 minutes for the bill and a take-away oat latte, and when the coffee arrived (without a lid), I noticed that it was very white. I asked the server if it was an oat latte, and she confirmed that she'd used cow's milk, not oat milk as requested. I'm intolerant to dairy so those with intolerances, beware! I did pour out quite a bit of milk to try to find the coffee. There was so little coffee that I thought the server might have not put any in. The coffee was essentially milk with 1/3 froth and a drop of coffee. Lattes are not supposed to be frothy like a cappuccino, by the way. Perhaps serve instant coffee if making a latte is difficult? As to the staff member who processed my bill, please spare me the attitude. If you'd been to a pub and paid £57 for a cold meat platter, some gnocchi and sausages, you'd feel the same. To sum up, it took 2hr 20 minutes for them to serve a cold, uncooked platter and one cooked course. I might still be waiting for the bill and the coffee had I not approached the counter with my coat on to ask for it myself.

Had a lovely Boxing Day meal with my family. All food was delicious and wine was exceptional. Had a slight issue with steaks not being cooked correctly but it was dealt with right away and the lovely owner removed from bill. Everything was superb and look forward to our next visit.
