Friendly staff. Huge meal, good value for money (£14 I think for chicken burger with fries and £6 for the kids meal) very tasty food!! 10/10, nice clean restaurant. Just stumbled accross it, but would go back!

We were staying nearby with our touring caravan and had taken a drive into Portaferry. As it was Easter Sunday we didn't hold out much hope of getting in anywhere. However the staff at Captain Jack's were able to accommodate us with a very limited wait.Food was excellent and the staff very courteous.Certainly will be paying them another visit (after booking!) And would certainly recommend.

High quality, full of flavour delicious food. Served in a comfortable and spacious bistro with plenty of character. Ate here as a family and would highly recommend a visit if you're in the area. Good range of food on kids menu too and very generous portion.

Absolutely unreal food. Myself and my partner ate here as it was the closest place that catered to coeliacs and weren't we pleasantly surprised! Almost the entire menu can be tweaked to remove any gluten, and it was to die for. Really good prices too. Will definitely be back.

Was expecting so much more, seeing as every table was reserved, I thought we're in for a treat here and I chose the 2nd most expensive from the menu. The food I had was OK, nothing spectacular, have had much better for half the price. Portions are huge. I have to say, I saw other customers food and it looked good, I think they'd burgers and their onion rings were huge.. I personally would not go back for the prices alone, the food wasn't rotten, I ate it because I was hungry but it lacked something, maybe peppers and definitely a side salad. Sorry guys. Service was great, the place is cosy and warm, just not for me.

Excellent food, excellent service and very accommodating with allergies. Plenty of choice on the menu.We ate in the bistro as part of a large group including children. My son has multiple allergies and the chef came out to speak to us about what he could cook. Staff were pleasant and helpful.Highly recommend this restaurant

Amazing!!! Definitely worth a visit! We were moved on by another cafe who were rude, but looked around for somewhere else and we are so glad we came here! They managed to squeeze us in despite tables being reserved which allowed us to still eat with enough time. We ordered the lasagne, scampi and chicken burger. Buns were lush, sauces were lush, batter was lush… we loved the atmosphere. Our servers were very polite and really helpful and attentive. Very good cleaning of tables after guests leave. Definitely recommended to all! We even took food home as it was all so scrumptious!🤙🏼💙

The food here is amazing. If you are in the area you should definitely eat here. They have a diverse menu that includes vegan and vegetarian options. I had the special fillet steak and it was perfect. Came with a delicious side of fried onion strings and baked pepper mushrooms. Wife had the veggie burger and it tasted much better than your usual American bean burger. The atmosphere is humble and local. Portaferry has a lot of history and you can smell and taste it at this great little gem. Bring GBP if you want to tip. I paid with card and there was no line for tipping so I felt bad.
