The Artisan Cookhouse in Down

Stumbled upon this place after a walk on the down coast. We weren’t expecting much but the service and food was lovely.We had a sharing dessert platter. Highlights included clandeboye panna cotta and a delicious lemon tart. Highly recommend

The nicest staff, beautiful coffee and apparently the grub was top notch too. Interesting variety of vegan options too if looking for that 😊

My friends my husband and me had gone to your restaurant tonight we were looking forward to it so much as heard so many good reports about it, but I feel I have to give you this review as I wasembarrassed at the end of the night when my friend receive the bill as he was treating us as a thank you gift for us.The total charge was for four main meals 3 desserts 3 coffee 1 glass of wine and 2 soft drinks. The quality of the food was ok but it was the portion sizes that we had the problem with yes we were not looking for a farmer's dinner, but just enough on the plates that at least the food would have covered half the plate instead it covers a quarter of the plate. We had not picked the most expensive food from the menu either we pick the cheaper end for the reason we were not paying and didn't want to come across as greedy people. So very disappointed in the cost for what we all got

We three had Sunday lunch on 6th March. We had three different courses. Each dish was superb as were the deserts- hence no starters. There was a very friendly greeting on arrival and the service was excellent all round. Congratulations to all concerned. The Artisan is well worth a visit

We had an wonderful time here. The food was extremely good and the service very friendly and efficient. The vegetable madras was exquisite, certainly the best curry or Indian Food I’ve had in Down. My mushroom soup was absolutely delicious and everything arrived times to perfection. I will certainly be recommending Artisan to anyone.

We were a group of 15 and were sent the menu to pre-order, this proved valuable as time wasn’t wasted taking the large order. When we arrived our table was already set up for us, the service was quick and the servers were so friendly.The food was amazing and each person who had the steaks were delighted as they were cooked exactly the way they requested. The presentation of the food was exquisite as was the taste it was sensational, as foodies it was delightful to know we have a restaurant of this standard in our locality, we can’t wait to return.

Just had one of the best meals out in a very long time @ The Artisan Cookhouse. The food was excellent and all five of us cleared every plate, a true indication as to how much we all enjoyed the meal. The surroundings are very appealing, the restaurant was clean and tidy whilst the staff were attentive and professional. Good value menu and certainly somewhere we will visit again. Highly recommended if you are down Strangford way.
