Such a fantastic place.I decided to take the wife there for her birthday. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. It made a big difference being able to take our wee pup in with us too. They even had dog treats available for free. The food was delicious and very fresh. The selection of beer was also a nice touch. Seems to be a rarity around Northern Ireland to try something different. I recommend Maggie's Leap.We would of liked to have stayed longer but that has made want to come back again. The staff were very helpful and they truly are a credit to the establishment.

Cosy, great mix of food. I had the pork belly bites which were delish as a small plate. Only things that could be better was the bar service (had to sit a long time between drinks) and the toilets could use some love.

The Sunday roasts here are superb with the roast pork being my favourite. A friendly owner who enjoys his job and has time for every customer, a great selection of beer and whiskey, and either a beer garden for the good days, or a nice cosey fire for the colder ones, a fantastic bar all round.

Actually paid £4 for this chip today and yes that is how it was presented.

Having noted some previous reviews highlighting less than satisfactory service I was a little apprehensive, however there was no need, the service staff were friendly and attentive, the food was great, generous portions and the atmosphere was cosy and enjoyable. I'm so glad we took the risk and weren't put off by other reviews

We were in for a meal and a few drinks on Sunday evening. It's so lovely to be able to sit in a pub setting like this and enjoy a fairly quiet evening without blasting music and the hussle and bussle of a mad restaurant. This place is just as nice as other pub restaurants in the area and no more or less expensive. The atmosphere inside is cosy and warm as the outside of the building would suggest it's going to be. The 4 of us had a nice meal and in the most part were waited upon without fuss or hassle. One member of waiting staff was rather blunt and to the point, not so much as to be rude but more like they had just started the job recently. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on this occasion as the rest of the experience was grand. The quality of the food seemed to be to a good standard although my risotto was a little hard rather than creamy. Good selection of drinks, again as you would expect. Overall a nice evening out and a much enjoyed experience.

Ate here on a trip to Hillsborough at the weekend. Food was good when it finally arrived - 45 minutes after we ordered. In fairness one of our main courses was removed from our bill due to the wait but it was still an extremely long time to wait. Also none of the staff were wearing masks or face coverings, I found this very off-putting in the current climate. Shame because the food was nice and the atmosphere is lovely but those two things would prevent me from returning unfortunately.

We arrived at the hillside at 4.30pn to eat and enjoy a meal out with my friends. 3 of us. We sat at a table by the fire and ordered a bottle of wine and when the 2 people who where at the large table by the window left we moved over to the bigger table to enjoy space for our food, which we had not yet ordered. The lovely little waitress was sent to tell us we had to move from this table as it was booked for 7.30pm.It was only 5.15 pm and we assured them we would be gone by 6.45pm. No we still could not sit there we had to move. We then proceeded to the restaurant where we were further humiliated by being told they didn’t want us there either. Such a sad experience. I wanted to try their food as I needed to do a Christmas booking for 15 people in December. We went there on my friend’s recommendation but she was personally mortified by the whole thing. Not a great experience

The food we ordered was well presented and tasty. But it took so long for us to get served. We were given the menu but the waitress seem to forget about us. Have to go and find someone to take the order.

A lovely traditional pub serving good food but full of barking dogs making it a surreal experience.Don’t know who was worst the dogs or the dog owners who didn’t seem to care as their dogs barked most of the time we were eating. There were at least three or four of them at the front area of the pub.Such a pity as the pub is lovely. I have never experienced this in an Irish pub before.I think the owners need a rethink on policy as they must be losing business.
