First visit and definitely will return. We just called in without booking but I would strongly recommend booking first. We had the roast beef. It was really good food.. plenty on the plate and the separate plate of veg was delicious!!! Really appreciated the service at this lovely place.

Went for lunch today 5 adults 1 hour and 10 minutes wait for very mediocre food. Table beside us arrived after us ordered got their food and we’re finished before our food arrived. My burger managed to be both burnt on one side and almost cold. When food arrived waiter told us he “would sort us out “ for poor service after we’d eaten- he didn’t even come back with the vinegar we asked for. Place is very quaint inside but Hillsborough is full of lovely places to eat my advice is try somewhere else.

Food was lovely but service really let it down. On arrival the bar staff seemed to have a bit of an attitude. Once shown to our table we waited close to 30mins before someone came near us again to take an order. The door to exit the outside seated area was next to us, so we, along with everyone around us, also had to dine with our coats on as the door was constantly in use. Disappointing, our experience wouldn't cause me to rush back.

Friendly and helpful staff. Most clients adhered to Covid regulations and we had to show our Covid passports on entering. Our starters were delicious. Our main courses were just OK. We didn't have a sweet or tea/coffee. Some prices were expensive considering food taste/texture. Overall quite a pleasant evening if not a little noisey.

A warm welcome and excellent service and food at the bistro at The Plough Inn. There’s a lovely atmosphere here and William, our server, was very friendly and attentive. Beef satay, duck spring rolls, Steak, pork belly and butternut squash salad were delicious. Children and families made welcome. I’d recommend.

Great, old pub with lotsofcharacter, does good food too. Vintage Rooms restaurant adjacent, for people who brunch. Parking at rear.
