The Railway Tavern in Blaenau Gwent

Excellent food and service but a little disappointed that no option to see the menu apart from the QR code. Not everyone has a mobile! Otherwise very enjoyable.

Me and my girlfriend visited The Railway yesterday (Sunday 15th May) and I'm really glad we did.We were greeted promptly, shown to our table and had our drinks order taken. Using their QR Code we accessed the menu and both opted for the same meals (Mushrooms for starters and beef for main)The Mushrooms were lovely and again the food was brought out in a timely manner. The beef however was even better. You could have cut it with a spoon. The best beef I have ever had. The portion sizes was excellent and everything from the roasties to the veg was cooked to perfection.Would 100% recommend this to others.

Food here is amazing. The Railway Steak Pie is like nothing I've eaten before. 100% recommend and will be returning to again if in the area. Staff were lovely too.

The steak, served with fresh tasty veg, was the best! Beautifully cooked, easy to eat, with the greatest of taste. 10/10.The desert I sampled, the Lemoncello cheesecake, while scoring high, was extremely sweet, and could have benefited from a tangy sauce to balance out the overall sweetness - this being my personal taste and only criticism.All in, an eating experience, with good customer service, amongst pleasant and open surroundings

Absolutely amazing Sunday dinner. Been to their other pub, The Farmers Arms which we love so thought we would give The Railway a try. Staff are amazing, food was unbelievable. Booking back in to try the weekday menu for next week.

Nice venue, clean decor and spacious. Staff are excellently trained and friendly. Attentive but not up in your grille. Good selection of drinks. Food is about medium pricey but definitely good quality. Fries were delicious, steak cooked perfect rare and seasoned properly. Peppercorn sauce (on the side) was beautiful. I was under the impression it was a franchise establishment, but the kitchen at least seems to be ran almost independently. Well worth a visit. Thanks guys.

Visited here on a Friday evening and even after a computer error while ordering our food, I have to say the service and the food was absolutely outstanding. Staff very attentive and apologetic over a minor error. Great selection of beers on draught and would highly recommend the burgers, will definitely be returning.

Absolutely delicious salmon starter at the Railway. It was so nice to have something a little bit different and the orange and gin hollandaise with beetroot crumb was out of this world! Massive compliments to the chef. We also ordered the garlic mushrooms and those were delightful too. The roast dinner mains were also lovely; the meat especially. This was the nicest Sunday roast that I've had locally, by far, beating the likes of Butterflies, Jolly Colliers etc. I'd highly recommend you giving the Railway a try. The staff were lovely, the restaurant itself was very nicely decorated, and we felt it was a safe environment to eat out. I've told all my friends to go try the salmon starter! Divine!

Wonderful to visit the Railway Tavern again after a few years when it was undergoing a lot of changes. Saw lots of great reviews and photos from Christmas when everyone seemed to be having a terrific time. We went for a meal tonight and absolutely loved it. The food was different but exciting. I cannot praise the lovely staff enough. The food was reasonably priced. Would highly recommend a visit.
