The food is decent though Toby Carvery is becoming a bit omnipresent these days - can we just have ordinary pubs instead ? Understaffed and inefficient in taking sales and providing service. Despite this, the reason I give it 4 stars instead of 3 (or even 2) is the extremely patient server who helped us with the discount app. Full marks to them for that - at that price it's very good value.

Warmth, attentiveness and professionalism of staff was superb. Have been to this venue before and have always been completely satisfied. On this occasion we had a half price offer on main meals. This is the first time we've had/used this offer and did wonder if perhaps choice of food would be more limited but it certainly was not. The choice of meats and vegetables were the same as all other times we've been. Food was lovely, fresh and hot. Myself and my husband were very happy and are looking forward to visiting again. We have already shared our positive feedback amongst friends and thoroughly recommend it.

My wife and I had lunch there yesterday. We arrived at 12:30 pm and as the chef hadn't arrived, and there was a bit of a queue,Darren stepped in and took full control to keep everyone served. His control of the situation was most impressive. The fare on offer was excellent, and we will certainly be coming again.Very reasonably priced ,and to be fair all the staff were attentive, checking with us that everything was to our satisfaction.A very professional venue.

Unbelievable. Stayed at Premier hotel next door. Went for a drink at 9.02pm at the next door Toby Carvery to be told that food and drinks stopped at 9pm prompt. All our 15 friends (arranged reunion) turned up to this prehistoric so called eating house and basically were told to go elsewhere! We will never, ever go to this Premier hotel which does not mention the drinks restriction at the Toby Carvery and certainly the establishment itself, of which we have warned off many of our friends and work associates to avoid. In its defence however the food was good the waitress wonderful but the cost of a large wine extortionate at £7.25

Been coming here ages walking in, now there's a voucher on offer, no walk ins, no takeaways on our visit, very clearly 3 tables empty at the bar, asked staff about it because someone could come in 10 mins, won't give a meal.

Shocking! Before we even walked in there was a woman who warned us that there wasn't any meat left so we didn't have great expectations walking in but what little expectation we had was crushed when we realised it wasn't busy in the slightest to warrant running out of meat and we didn't get any replacement, they had run out of gravy and no-one was checking so I had to ask if more was coming to which they had to make more but by the time it came my food was cold and the gravy was lukewarm so didn't warm the plate up, the staff stood around chatting and didn't bother asking if we were alright but to top it off the light shade above our table was caked in dust and every now and then would drop down and sprinkle over my food. Avoid this place if you enjoy a warm meal and staff who take pride in their service. Looks lovely from outside though.EDIT: after my last visit I was hesitant to come again but I couldn't argue with my partner so here is my follow up review. There was a lovely woman who served me and to my amazement there was meat! A decent amount as well, all the trimmings ready and waiting and enough gravy to feed a small army also everything was hot, now I'm excited to sit and eat but abit worried I might have a side of dust like the last meal but no the light shade above my table had been altered and cleaned not sure about any other table, the staff seemed to be busy enough as to not be able to stand around chatting, instead they focused on their service and good service it was, polite and helpful. I'm happy to say I would come here again.

Excellent service from all the staff, food was gorgeous and a good selection of drinks. Even my fussy kids loved it.Great value for money, will definitely be back soon.Keep up the great service A++++

If you arrive here early the food is fresh and well cooked. However if you arrive and its busy you will find some of the veges undercooked. I have found the potato gratin slices still raw on at least 3 occasions and the cabbage barely blanched let alone cooked. I have given 3 stars because when the cooks are not rushing and the veges are cooked well it is spot on. Most of the staff are nice but there have been some exceptions as with all places

Surprisingly good! We had a table booked for 3:20 yesterday, and had never been before. All staff really friendly and helpful, particularly the guy carving the meat! Would definitely come back.

As Toby Carveries go, this is one of the better ones locally. Decent food, well managed queues and bookings, and reasonably priced drinks. The waiter assigned to us was very good and had just the right amount of attentiveness. Would have been 5* were it not for the fact that the veg deck was rather devoid of choice - our fault for coming for a late (1740) service on a Sunday I guess.
