We have just returned home after staying for 2 nights at the Premier Inn Cardiff City South. Ocean Park Brewers Fayre is adjacent to the hotel so we bought meal deals for both days which included 2 breakfasts and 2 evening meals. We have stayed in many premier inn hotels and the breakfasts are always something we look forward to.From the moment we entered the Brewers Fayre restaurant we were disappointed, we waited 5 minutes before a member of staff took our booking reference. We sat down to eat at 6pm and the tables were sticky, everything about the restaurant was unclean, leftover food from previous customers under the tables and when a staff member cleared a nearby table she gave it a rub with a cloth in two small areas around the paper napkins leaving a lot to be desired in the cleanliness rankings.Ordering food was another delightful experience. No fish available, no naan bread left to go with tikka masala, a bit of the yellow part of an iceburg lettuce that was turning brown was a garnish for fish pie (which was quite nice) and the scampi was deep fried to an extremely dark breadcrumb colour. The sticky toffee pudding and custard was nice though.Breakfast, ok but not the best premier inn breakfast I've ever had, there's never any cups and you may find yourself replenishing stocks of teabags if you ask for some! The coffee machine was broken so there would be no cappucino's or latte's available just teabags or instant coffee sachets. We had to boil a tiny kettle whenever we wanted a hot drink as the hot water urn had been switched off, we don't know why, we did ask. There were only 2 cups and 2 tea pots, one of which had a teabag label inside obviously not washed. No milk jugs so we had to fill a mug with milk to take to the table.Drinks! Don't bother asking for a mocktail, there were no ingredients for the three on the menu. Beer pumps were 'iffy' according to the staff, they had been having problems with them, so stick with the bottled lager or cider but don't ask for a straw, they don't have any, not even a paper one. Most staff were uninterested, lazy and didn't want you to sit at tables in certain areas, I assume this is so there was less floorspace to vacuum.Terrible place, don't bother going anywhere near it. Save your money for somewhere that has standards, stock and is cleaned properly. We definitely won't be returning.

This place really used to thrive. The food there is not nice anymore. Steaks are always cooked not to your expectation - if you ask for rare they'll give it well cooked and it tastes like rubber. Some of the staff's are lovely yet some moody and uptight. The gambling machines and childrens toy machine is the only thing that's good. The use of pool table also! Considering it's next to a hotel, I'm very surprised by the lack of publicity and professionalism with it's staff and food. The Sunday carvery's are disgusting. Never any mint sauce there and Gravy is like warm water. The drinks (especially alcohol) is expensive.I was told to apply for the company as i could get a job. I applied and had an interview yet i rang to change due to having covid and they never got back. Told me to speak to one of the managers which i did, never heard back. Communication is poor.Overall, enjoy the machines, cold fresh drinks and some staff.

The location, parking space and the seating place inside the pub is excellent. However, the cleaniess levels are a lot to be desired.I've been there 6 times, and it was always with my work colleagues. In every occasion the tables we were given were sticky. Although, the table was cleared of any food crumbs or liquids etc, the table obviously was not cleaned properly.I'd have excused it if the pub was full and busy etc, but majority of the tables were unoccupied, on all 6 visits it was between 2pm to 4pm noon on Fridays, yet they couldn't clean the stickness on the tables.I might still go there with my office colleagues, on a Friday afternoon, as it's very close to where I work. But I would never take my family to this place. It's a shame that they don't clean the tables properly as this pub is a really nice place to go out with your loved ones/family.

I give this place a 5 star for one reason and one reason only - Lenesha Browne. Her service was exceptional. She helped my daughter and I immesnsly during our stay and we chose to eat most of our meals there as oppossed to going out for food due to her service and feeling helped, valued and appreciated. She was really kind- helping us with our orders, really patient- bringing our food for us as I had a lot of luggage, and just made us feel so comfortable and welcome each time we came for a meal. The staff there were nice too and food pleasant but but Lenesha really was exeptional in her customer services. Thanks so much for making our stay even better. Would highly recommend the place too. Very good breakfast.

The staff were ok and the food was edible but the place was filthy to be honest. Where we were seated there was food splatters all over the seats and walls and just looked generally scruffy. I went to the mens and there was pee all over the floor, my wife and daughter found worse in the women's, someone had had a very bad stomach in there and had not been cleaned, unpleasant to say the least.

Such a lovely pub! So traditional and with lovely waiters and waitresses! And very good prices too!
