Chimichanga in Cardiff

The food is brilliant, good quality and not too long a wait. They also do the Tesco vouchers we converted £10 Tesco into £40 chinichanga, enough for a sharing nachos and 2 mains with a side each.Drinks aren't included in vouchers which is a shake because there is only bottle soft drinks which gets expensive quickly. No refills like TGI.The service lets it down. Never enough staff on at lunch. Waiting to be seated when there are lots of free tables that just need to be cleaned. The staff work very hard there's just not enough of them.

Food is good but the service is not. Only a handful of tables and plenty of staff but didn’t even get to place a drinks order after we had been seated instead we had managed to choose our food and discuss the day before seeing a member of the waiting staff. Food came out in a timely manner. Not a great example of a good chain restaurant. Staff were polite and pleasant but needs better management.

Worst taquitos I’ve ever had - doughy, not crispy and hardly any filling. Fries also tasted kind of dry. When I was seated I was told there were about 6 things on the menu that were unavailable. Despite the doors being open and the staff seating people I was also told that ‘the kitchen is still finishing their prep’. My drink order was forgotten and didn’t come out til after my food. Staff seem to be really disorganised.

Went here for an early dinner (5.45pm). Was nearly empty but stilll stood waiting for too long before we were seated. After being seated they took our drinks order which arrived shortly after. We were then sat waiting for around 15 minutes before anyone came to take our order. Starter arrived in a reasonable time but we had to wait at least another 30 minutes before they cleared our plates and brought our mains. Food was tasty and hot which is why I have given it 2 stars. Customer service alone would be 0 stars.After we finished the mains we waited a further 40 mins before being asked if we wanted the dessert menus and a further 20 mins before these were served. By this time the restaurant still wasn't busy, so have no idea how they cope when it does get busy! After dessert we were kept waiting so long I went up to the desk and politely asked if I could pay there only to be told "No, go back and sit down I'll be there in a minute." After that a different waitress came to take our payment.Overall a huge disappointment as the food was not fantastic enough to be worth the wait. Wouldn't return here.

Food was good but not great.Drinks service was incredibly slow we ordered two drinks and our food actually arrived before the two drinks. The second round of drinks also took forever which actually put in s off ordering from the the cocktail menu. Good but not great.

I have had better food at Chimmichanga few times before (and it was delicious btw) but this time we had a set menu and bit disappointed with it. I guess it was cheap and cheerful but the quality was lacking. The waiter did not repeat the order back to us and got us a different starter than ordered. There is definitely room for improvement.

There is little doubt that the food is very tasty here. Starters are generous and delicious. I do not recommend the Cascabal pork steak dish; uninspiring, too small and not of a good quality. Polite staff and quickly served.

Pretty nice food, but my discount wasn't honoured. I was​ told after I had eaten that they had stopped giving discounts after having changed their menu 2 weeks earlier. There was no attempt to offer a compromise, such as a lower discount or complementary drink, which I think reflects poor customer service.

Having arrived to a restaurant who had two or three tables occupied (about 10 people total) and having ordered from the set course menu, I found it a displeasing surprise the (lack of) speed with which the service was run. The food served, while not awful, was also not exactly great, with a burrito where I could barely taste anything else other than hotness or chips covered in a thick layer of hot paprika, once again making it impossible to actually taste the chips, making desert be the only serving that was actually tasty (probably because it was not supposed to be spicy hot at all), it being the reason why this is a two star review. I understand spicy hot has become an expected characteristic of Mexican​ food but it is supposed to complement existing flavours, not erase them from existence.Long story short, if you want to arrive very late from your lunch break and with a burnt mouth, this is the place for you. Me, I'll give it a permanent no-go.

Fries are good but one waitress has attitude problem but the other waitress was lovely and so was the other waiter. Mocktail - Piña Colda was terrible, no flavour of pineapple and too sweet. Tasted like milkshake rather than Piña Colda. When told waitress she was so rude and said that's how we make it. Interesting is that's two of us did not like it.
