La Cafe Francais in Cardiff

Had the patè which I thought was good but opted for the Breton Poulton which was fairly awful. It looked like the red wine cram and onion sauce was made up separately from the complete dish and the roast potatoes and chicken breast plonked in it at the time of ordering. The chicken breast was very dry and the meat was brown and chewy suggesting it had been kept warm until needed. The French would have cooked it in the sauce. It was all pretty tasteless so on this basis I can't recommend the place. It is also not cheap to eat there so even further disappointing.

Had lunch at this Cafe Rouge a few weeks ago. Staff were really friendly and the service was excellent. The best toastie (croque madame) I've ever had, delicious! Lovely menu of Parisian inspired food with lots of choices. Would happily visit again!

Beautiful breakfast. Husband had a traditional breakfast and I had pancakes with bacon, banana and maple syrup. Very tasty. Lovely surroundings and good price. Will definitely visit again.

Food was amazing - the best meal out I’ve had for a long time. Good sized portions without being overwhelming, and just the right amount of everything. Excellent choice of food and drinks with friendly and attentive staff. They were very good with allergy requirements and ensured I was happy and comfortable. Toilets were nice and tidy, as was the whole restaurant. Will definitely go again.

Had the afternoon tea in Café Rogue and it was lovely. Great little selection of mini baguettes and tarts. The staff were really friendly and helpful too.

Never had a bad meal, usually use tesco vouchers or buyagift.

We had the Breakfast menu. We ordered 2 cooked Breakfasts &(2lattes), they were just ok. The breakfast could have had some more beans. My daughter had the salmon & Avacado on toast(& Babycino) , which she thoroughly enjoyed. The service from the staff is brilliant and fast. The only thing I would say is if your on a budget, this place is expensive. Our bill was £40 odd pound. It was a nice treat, couldn't make a habit of it at their prices.

Have you ever walked into somewhere and instantly been made to feel unwelcome? Well that's Café Rouge in Cardiff when my partner and I were made to feel extremely unwelcome and like we were being told off by, I can only assume, the manager (some fella that acted like he's running a sophisticated airport cocktail lounge). The man that greeted us was rude, arrogant and dismissive (but a delight to all other customers around us). And as for the food, a very overpriced vegan breakfast was served to us that had bland mushrooms, dry toast, avocado that had been preserved in lemon rather than made fresh and a sweetcorn fritter that was so dry that if it had chocolate chips in, I'd believe was a cookie. Would not recommend.

Fantastic food, a warm and friendly welcome by the very knowledgeable restaurant staff. The food was exceptional, great portions, cooked well with wonderful presentation. I've already booked a family birthday here based on the previous experience. We'll definitely be visiting here in a regular basis. Highly recommended.
