The Black Lion in Cardiff

Just popped in for a quick drink. Plenty of people eating Sunday lunch which looked lovely. My only criticism is that it is in desperate need of a refurbishment.

Good old Brains pub, unfortunately the bench seating around the lounge could do with upgrading , looked a little stained and worn.

Reviews are important. I chose the Black Lion on other’s feedback and I’m very pleased we went there today. The roast dinner was lovely and fresh, the 2 course lunch price was a welcoming £10 and I will certainly be taking the family there again! Should also mention that the place was clean as you’d expect and the staff were friendly too! Thank you for a lovely Sunday roast!Trust me, not all pubs in a chain meet the chain’s standards. Manager clearly runs a tight ship here in The Black Lion. Well done!

Great family friendly pub. Food was amazing 4 of us ate and there is not one negative thing any of us have to say about it.Staff were amazing !!On leaving we noticed that from this weekend they are starting to serve Sunday Roasts so we booked a table straight away as if its a good as our meal today we know we will not be disappointedWell worth a visit

The Fish & Chips.....omg! I've done The Ivy, Ramsey, Marco etc and this crispy coating, succulent fish and perfect chips rates possibly above all! Great presentation and lovely staff! 👏👏👏

Great place, the service was amazing and friendly. The food took time but was more than worth it, portions were good as well and the prices are very reasonable. Cosy and charming ambience.Their beer glaze sauce is to die for!

On arriving we received a warm welcome from bar staff. Food was served quickly and well presented . Cooked beautifully snd enjoyed every mouthful. Can’t wait until my next visit

Sit where??!!!Called in for a couple of beers. We were told we that all the tables were reserved for Sunday lunch. What about the people coming in for a couple of beers (remember, you are a pub, NOT a restaurant). This reserving tables in a pub is getting out of hand. We were told we could sit at a "booth around the back." No wonder it was free, it was disgusting. We had to sit by all the detritus of the pub. (see picture). We were paying customers. Whatever happened to first come, first served?!!Thank you for your response...However, it's obvious that you have not read my review properly as you have not addressed the issues raised. Never mind.
