Dog friendly & child friendly. Service usually efficient but food can be slow when busy. There’s usually plenty of space outside. Good selection of beer. Food is standard pub grub and not bad value

Excellent service. Sunday lunch was great. We asked for more gravy and that came immediately. Waitress was really good. Friendly and welcoming with a good sense of humour. Very dog friendly, which was fine by us. I would highly recommend

Lovely place with a spectacular view. Loved the open fire! The staff were very attentive & polite, brilliant service. The food was lovely too. We had a really enjoyable time. This was my first visit but I will definately be visiting again. Many thanks!

It was such a lovely time celebrating with family. Our server, who I could wish I could remember her name was very friendly and professional. Our food was delicious and came promptly despite being in the busy hours of the day.The Ty Mawr was clean and fresh with a cosy cottage/pub element.Wonderful lunch time out! Would definitely come again for the roasts.

Really looked forward to lunch at the Ty Mawr on Saturday afternoon. Parked up, enjoyed lovely views over Cardiff and across the river Severn. Inside we found it clean and tidy and were afforded a nice table in a quiet corner. Though it was obviously too quiet!! After being seated, we waited over 30 minutes before I had to find someone to ask if we ordered at the bar even though we were told our order would be taken at our table. I was told someone would be over to take our order immediately. Immediately should not mean waiting a further 10+ minutes. Very small plates of food followed. We were intending having dessert, but weren't offered the menu when our plates were collected. Still waiting for someone to come back to the table our time ran out as we had plans later that afternoon. We booked our table from 2.30 to 4.15 which should have been plenty of time to eat 2 courses. Alas we had to depart dessertless. On paying the bill at the bar (giving up on paying at the table) we found all the waiters and waitresses congregated behind the bar. When we first arrived the manager (I assume) checked with front of house whether they had enough staff on. They may well have done, but they weren't very attentive to the seated customers. Very disappointing visit to a local restaurant with good reviews. The big birthday meal I was intending to book for will be taken elsewhere.

My last review was of mixed opinions I revisited after a few weeks apart and had a good night as I always do. Tables were still reserved but this time we were informed where we could sit and how long for, this made any awkwardness easier. I look forward to my next visit as it's one of my favourite places to drink and to catch up with old friends 👍

A little out of the way but great views over the city. Good honest pub grub at reasonable prices, with offers of 2 courses for £12.50 in the week. I had the special for the day, salmon with dauphinois potatoes, for £10 and it was delicious. Partner had bangers and mash, with peas and fab beef dripping gravy which was lovely. Was sat near the log fire which was nice and had a great pint of Barry Island IPA. Staff were lovely and efficient too. Oh, and they let dogs in!

I really enjoyed the Sunday lunch with my parents at Ty Mawr in Lisvane. We sat in a nice warm corner of the restaurant and I ordered a pint of my favourite drink. The meals on the menu seemed quite reasonably priced and I ordered lamb. When this arrived, it was accompanied by lots of nice vegetables and a large Yorkshire pudding with gravy. It was very tasty and not too filling. For desert, I ordered the homemade apple crumble with vanilla ice cream as did my Mum. I was quite surprised how low the cost was for our 3 meals and it was one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had.

Lovely spot, with a view over Cardiff that you can see from both inside and outside. Very friendly welcome. Attentive but no fussy service. We only wanted a light lunch. I had the goat's and beetroot salad - it was very fresh and absolutely delicious.

1st time here for my bikers club meet. 1st Impressions was it looks a lovely country pub. These dark cold nights are no good, but I Imagine it's a great place in the summer for outdoor sitting as it looked stylish and comfortable. Always nice to see a real fire in a country pub too 🔥A little on the pricey side, but probably normal for location.
