Highly recommend this place. Amazing customer service they couldn't do enough for us. The food was delicious. We will definitely be returning very soon.

Seriously great food and the staff here are amazing. They really went above and beyond helping the family and my disabled mother. We ate a delicious 3 courses and some lovely red wine. I'd highly recommend and hope to be back soon!

Never visited while it was still a fine dining restaurant, booked a table for Valentine's Day to later find out they had rebranded into a steak and burger house. Didn't have a problem with this as we both like steak and thought if anyone knew how to prepare a good steak it would be a kitchen staff with fine-dining experience.Unfortunately this wasn't the case, the steak that I ordered medium rare was thin and sinewy, and came well-done.The worst part however is that I ordered a T-Bone steak and that wasn't what I got. A T-Bone by definition is a cut of steak with a bone through the middle with sirloin on the one side and the more costly fillet on the other. The steak I actually received had no fillet attached whatsoever, it was just a sirloin with a small piece of bone attached. With this place having a history of fine dining you would expect them to know this so it definitely felt more like a malicious way of ripping off the customer than genuine incompetence. The bramble my partner ordered was gin and soda with blackcurrant squash. They had run out of crème brûlée, one of only three desserts they offered. The wait staff were all very friendly and attentive and the poor rating is in no way a reflection on them but the food served made for a very disappointing meal. The buffalo wings were good though, try the wings.

The service here was fantastic. The food was so delicious and I am glad we went thanks to a recommendation from Linda W (who loves it there) it was my first visit to Jols and I must say I was very impressed. Definately go and try it out if you are nearby.

Have to say we were disappointed, having seen the menus on the website, to be offered, at 7.30 in the evening, a limited ÂŁ20 set menu of which there is no mention on the website. But l guess the menu has to be adapted for a cold Wednesday night in April in Merthyr.Good quality food, just not what we expected. Suggest you check the menu before you book or sit down as the web site is very misleading.A menu posted on the door would be helpful.

Food was amazing. Can not fault the food. But it’s way too expensive. If you pay their prices to eat there, your paying for the experience not just the food. And to be honest, there’s nothing special about that experience. Was really empty considering it was 7.30 on a Friday night.... more staff than customers. Premesis is a bit dreary and dark and lacks any imagination. The food salvaged the night a little but as an overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place to friends and family and won’t return at my own choice

Had a stunning meal tonight at JOL's. Loved everything about the food and the service was great. Definitely punching above its weight in Merthyr; get down there for your next special occasion.

Stumbled across this place by accident and it ended up being the highlight of our trip to Wales. The food is outstanding (and we eat out A LOT). We weren't even that hungry and had 3 courses because it was that good! The service was first rate as well, friendly and professional we honestly could not find any fault. They have nailed it!...If you are in the area and you appreciate great food then get down there.
