The new Crown Inn in Merthyr Tydfil

Such a find! My partner and I travelled nearby to explore Brecon Beacons and came across this lovely Portuguese-owned pub. Owners are very friendly and the food was incredible. We got the mixed tapas, piri chicken and tiger prawns

-Good service-Funky-Decent prices-£1.60 for a mug of black tea with soya drink-Limited vegetarian and vegan food and dessert options

Given the high reviews, we were disappointed with our visit. We waited for our drinks for 30 minutes before I went to enquire about them. We also had to wait for one hour for our food. The burger was below average in quality especially given the price. The duck and rice dish was nice but weirdly served in a takeaway container. No member of staff ever checked if the meal was okay.

Great pub in the centre of Merthyr Town centre. Ideally good for a socal drinks, bar snacks, live entertainment. Staff are extremely helpful, fantastic selection of meals to suit all dietary requirements such a meatatarian, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. Children are welcome as there is menu choice. We both had omelette with salad and chips. Generous portions with wide range of sauces. Dog are welcome only at The Crown if sitting outside in the garden which is nicely decorated and heaters. Two of the staff insured we was looked after, also 3 of the 4 staff members came over for a chat and see our dog. We returned to The Crown when in the area.

Chicken burger is great. Whatever sos they are using I'd love to use it too.Tasted fresh with all fresh ingredients. Recommend this place.

So pleased we came across this amazing pub/restaurant in central Merthyr.The atmosphere was excellent, the staff were fun and friendly, the owner was very cool and told us about a few local mountain bike trails and recommended some dishes.Food was exceptional, as were the drink options. A really great place, well done Team New Crown 👏

Worst food I habe ordered in a restaurant. For god sake don't eat here.

The food was lovely and the stuff was helpful and kind. Inside was full, but outside was plenty of space. Which is great for people who is smoking. Also even if it's cold not a problem there is outside heaters. I would recommend this place!

It was an absolutely wonderful experience to dine here. The food is incredible, the staffs are so warm & welcoming and the ambience is lovely.Since the New Crown it's owned by a Portuguese family, the menu and food have a good Portuguese touch. They also have a lot of live music events and that adds to their popularity.If you are in or around Merthyr Tydfil, I would definitely recommend to eat here. Just a reminder : while it is open till late, the kitchen closes by 9 pm.Update - We went again to The New Crown on the last day of our stay in Merthyr and tried to skewers (seafood skewer and chicken skewer), and both of them were absolutely fantastic.

This is the best place to eat in the town. Food is yumm and the staffs are very friendly. The only drawback is that it's always booked so you will need to pre-book to dine in here. You can check their Facebook page for more details. I will highly recommend this place to everyone visiting Merthyr Tydfil. Beautiful decoration, super friendly staffs and delicious food. Also as the owner is Portuguese, you can see many Portuguese dishes on the menu.
