Car park opposite, small and cosy restaurantAttentive staff and toilets on site. Disabled access though not explicitly designed will pose no problem. Well behaved dogs allowed.Food is very tasty and thought out. Good selection of drinks and clearly an ambitious restaurant.

Excellent food and great service. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Food was amazing. Wine and beer were excellent. One of the best meals we've had in a long time. Would highly recommend and will be going back asap.

Excellent food but a bit lacking in spuds /pasta etc so you feel hungry again mid/late afternoon. Friendly, helpful staff

The staff are so welcoming and attentive. The star attraction was the food, simply delicious.I would highly recommend a visit.

Really nice lunch and good atmosphere. The prices are higher than other places but you get what you pay for as the food is top quality. Only slight issue was a limited menu which only had 3 mains when we visited. I am also happy to report that following a previous review they now provide some lovely sourdough bread with olive oil for the table!

We were staying in the area and this place came highly recommended. Walking in albeit slightly dated decor, the welcome was extremely friendly and warm and we felt instantly looked after especially as we didn’t have a booking (I would book however). Having been fortunate enough to have eaten at a number of exceptional restaurants, I can confidently say that the food was absolutely outstanding. I chose the lamb and it literally was the best lamb roast I have ever eaten! If you happen to be in the area it is a real must!

My Partner and i finally visited The Black Bear on July 1st and were not disappointed, excellent service and communication regarding our booking. Nice ambience in a beautiful hamlet a few miles from Usk. The highlights of our meal where the oysters (super fresh) and welsh rarebit! (we ordered it twice) and then we both ordered Hogget for main which was absolutely delicious. Will be back again 100%

Wow. Our second time at the BB, this time for the tasting menu. From the cheese sticks (probably the cheese sticks eaten by the angels in heaven) through deeply flavoured turbot in broth with clams, chicken and tomatoes in fabulous gravy (jus?), we just loved all of it. One of us was driving but the other one (me) had the wine flight which was also delicious. Super lovely service. This is such a charming and delightful place I almost don't want to put up this review as I'd like to keep it quiet! Worth a detour. Lucky locals.

We had a fantastic meal here. Definitely as good as a recent lunch at the walnut tree, and exactly half the price. The menu was so interesting and appetising that it was hard to chose, and it all tasted delicious. A little thing which made a huge difference: We had multiple bottles of sparkling water during the meal and the charge at the end was £2 for the lot. Yay!There is no children’s menu, but they are extremely helpful and will make something specially using ingredients they have. My very very fussy 5 year old was delighted with his fish and chips.

A superb new eatery/pub in rural Monmouthshire. Run by a lovely young couple with a lot of passion for presenting a quality experience. A rotating menu of excellently cooked food handmade and composed by talented chef Josh. Wide range of drinks including fantastic cider which is perfect to share with your meal, a great low alcohol alternative to wine!
