Called in at the end of a day's walk, very glad we did. Everyone very friendly, landlord & his wife chatted with us and sorted out a table for 4 even though they were fully booked. Wednesday night is pie and and a pint night only £8.50, fantastic meal, choice of 5 different pies plus fresh veg. Friendly farmer gave our driver a lift to Devauden to get his car so we could enjoy a leisurely extra pint of real ale (great selection) I wish when on one of our walks there were more pubs like the Fountain, a rare proper country pub, you can also take your dog with you. We will be back.

A warm welcome and great food at v reasonable prices in a lovely old building with wooden beams, woodburner stoves and flagstone floors: exactly what a country pub should be.

·

What a lovely pub, great atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent food. What a find! We'll definitely be back, it's well worth the trek from the main road.

·

A small and rather out-of-the-way pub, offering a selection (when we visited of 3 local cask ales. A surprisingly varied menu, at good prices. Our walking group of about 15 ordered in advance, and the meals were well timed for our arrival, all being served in rapid succession with no real delays. Everyone was well satisfied with both quality and quantity. Great friendly service.

Sunday roast was fantastic. Worth the trip into the middle of nowhere. Make sure you book beforehand! It's not big and gets fully booked extremely quick.

·

Friendly, good beer, lovely garden. Makes a great walking destination from Tintern. Owners took advantage of lockdown to improve an already charming interior, revealing stone walls and floor covered over in the 60s.

·

Splendid old pub, great location. Nice garden with many seats. Proper beer and cider, nice landlord and staff. Nice eatery also. (Though we didn't eat on this occasion)
