The Gatehouse, also known as The Gate House, is a public house located next to Monnow Bridge in Monmouth, Wales. The pub was known as the Barley Mow until it changed its name in 1993. I was in Monmouth on the 12th to 14th of May 2022 and the Gate house was closed and had been for a while.

Great range of local ales and ciders, lovely atmosphere. Food is good here too. Recommended if you’re visiting Monmouth.

This place was absolute perfection for me. The food was stunning across the board, couldn't fault it. The music was upbeat and inviting. The staff are really approachable and welcoming and have great hospitality. This is one pub & restaurant in South Wales you don't want to skip out on.

We got there on a sunny Sunday afternoon and headed for the terraces to find there was a live band on and they were good too. Great atmosphere and a perfect Sunday afternoon by the river and bridge. Would have ha 5 stars but returned the next night to eat at 7:55pm to be told the kitchen closed at 8. Pity this isn't published on website etc. We presumed it would close at 9.

Lovely welcoming experience. We did not book and they catered for 7 of us. Lovely home made food, friendly places great atmosphere. They waitress was so lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. Thank you for the great service!! We will be back

Turned up for lunch with partner and puppy. We sat outside and it was lovely. Service was amazing, the food was lovely and 3 courses on a Sunday for £17.90 was a great price. We will be back for sure 😊

Nice pub/restaurant set at the bottom of the main street near the main carpark and old gatehouse Bridge and with the river running behind it. Has a nice outside deck for drinks. Good simple food and modest prices, good Sunday roast too. friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Recommended.

Didn't sample the food but stunning beer garden overlooking the river and bridge. Perfect for drinking in the sun!
