The Rock and Fountain Inn in Monmouthshire

Visited this beautiful pub and restaurant recently to celebrate with lunch following my daughters graduation ceremony. The place is absolutely beautiful, very welcoming. Staff were fantastic, attentive and helpful. One particular young gentleman who served our table should be given a mention, but not sure of his name sadly, he was very helpful, swift and polite. Food was stunning, and service prompt. Sat by the lovely real fire and had a great few hours. Highly recommend and cant wait to return 😊

We had a lovely Sunday Roast dinner recently with the family. The meat was tender and there was a good selection of vegetables. The only fault was the cheese sauce on the cauliflower which looked and tasted as though it was out of a packet. However this did not detract too much from the overall experience as we were met with great desserts, chocolate fudge cake, a really nice apple pie and a creme brulee. Overall a very nice lunch.

Absolutely blown away by this place.I found it by accident and looking at the menu I expected the usual pub standard food. I ordered a vegetable tart with a side of dauphinoise potatoes and the other person dining had a chicken curry.The tart was full of flavour, loads of perfectly cooked vegetables on the side and beautifully presented. The potatoes were creamy and full of garlic. The curry was beautifully spiced, fairly mild and the chicken inside was juicy and perfect.Desserts were spot on as well- lemon meringue and a chocolate fondant. Both were perfect.The food quality was astonishing, I thought I was on MasterChef.Nice beer, lovely service, decent parking and a beautiful area outside to eat when it warms up. Good menu choices for meat eaters/ vegans/ veggies too.I would highly recommend.

Booked a lunch for myself and friend. Very welcoming and attentive staff. Had the 3 course for £18.50 option- food very good, big portions and nicely presented. Will definitely book again.

Can’t fault them at all! Beautiful food, not just pub grub, much more! Staff were lovely, nothing too much trouble for them….I definitely recommend you pay them a visit, you won’t be disappointed! First time visiting, but will definitely be back! Thank you!!

Family gathering for 80th birthday celebration. Staff very friendly, couldn't do enough for us and made the day even more special.Food fantastic, cater for meat lovers, veggies, and vegans. Everyone emptied their plates.Beautiful venue, oak beams, and floor boards, open fires, beautifully decorated.

First time visiting. Was recommended to to me. Menu choice was extensive and caters for meat lovers, veggies and vegans. Very tasty and hot, my complement to the chef! Pub is very nicely decorated and has covid protocols in place. Staff really friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was welcoming and warm. Highly recommend and this will certainly not be my last visit.

Near the main road to Penhow and lovely historical converted buildings.Friendly staff and lovely set up.Food is delicious, freshly prepared and well presented. They can get really busy dinner time so it’s advisable to make reservations ahead of time. Worth a drive out to the countryside for a nice evening!

I’ve never made a review before but my experience at the rock and fountain compelled me too as there was this one gentleman named Rhys that went above and beyond for myself and my family to make our experience the best it could be. This young gentleman was always on his feet not only bringing out drinks and food but always making sure the fire was always big and roaring which my youngest daughter loved to watch whenever he put more logs on the fire. The food was amazing especially for the price! I will definitely be coming back with my friends and what Rhys was telling us about the lodge up top, I’ll 100% be recommending it to my fitness and family’s for events and parties as it’s so local to us.
