Just a great pub and restaurant in the Wales countryside. Big space that has a historic feel but a very cozy vibe. Super friendly and nice service as well. Food is top tier for the area as well.

A brief stop on my way past for lunch as part of the long journey home from Wales. No delay in service, friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. My only criticism might be the lack of a lighter lunch menu; the menu being the same for lunch and dinner, meant I ate a larger meal than perhaps I'd want for a midday lunch. Tasty all the same though 😊

Beautiful setting, absolutely delicious food and the best service! What a gem of a pub! Just wish it was my local. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fab little gem of a pub. The food is amazing, freshly cooked and tasty. We had a sharing board to start with of Garlic & Rosemary baked Camembert with bread and chutney...absolutely delicious. The hubby had the Star burger, the chips are chunky and more like wedges. I had the sweet potato, spinach and chickpea curry served with half and half, poppodum and pickle tray...gorgeous curry. Good portions, typhoid because I barely touched the chips and managed half the curry and rice.Definitely recommend...lovely, helpful staff and truely a little gem of a place! Thanks all.

This was our first meal on arriving in the Wye Valley for our holiday, what a disaster. On the menu, slow roasted belly of pork, on black pudding mash. Yes, it sounds mouth watering, always soft and pulls apart. Not here, a grilled pork chop bone removed on top of cold mashed potatoes, this has to be one of the worst meals I have been served. A very disappointing start to a long awaited holiday can only hope it gets better. So should read no stars on the hill. !!!

The bar and internal decor is lovely and cosy. Unfortunately the staff are prejudice to the point of racism. As an English couple, we tried to have a meal here, admittedly without booking, but were told bluntly that they could not fit us in. We asked to sit in for just a drink instead, and we sat in the bar.Whilst at the tablet we asked if we could order some food to the bar table as there was plenty of room, but again quite bluntly were told no.A Welsh couple then called in and asked if there was a table for food and the couple sat at the bar table with us while the staff checked for them. They were not locals or regulars after speaking with them for a while and were lovely to speak to.The staff told them they could wait for a table in the restaurant and they'll reserve one for them or they could order food to a table... So again we asked for exactly the same and were told no. The Welsh couple were shocked too.So unfortunately we can only recommend this place in any capacity so long as you have a Welsh accent.

The food here is brilliant! Really enjoyed it. Vegan options available which is fab. The pub has a lovely cozy atmosphere, the staff were all friendly and attentive. We had the soup start which was spiced butternut squash and it was very tasty, just the right amount of spice. For mains I had the pan-fried gnocchi, carrot & cumin puree, winter veg and greens (vegan) and it was phenomenal! The best meal I've had in a very long time. My husband had the Indian spiced shoulder of lamb, red lentil dhal, cauliflower puree and onion bhaji which he loved too, he said the lamb was perfect. We then had the warm pecan and treacle tart, spiced plum and vegan ice cream which was also good. Couldn't be more impressed with the food. We'll definitely be back and are already recommending it to family and friends.
