The Three Salmons in Monmouthshire

After a long weekend camping in wales we decided to find a castle and chance some grub on a Sunday. A last minute decision to go to Usk. A party of eight, we ended up here without a booking. We were set up promptly. The Sunday lunch food was really surprisingly delicious and generous in portion. Although it’s a 3 start hotel, I’m giving it four stars review because the place is understated and not trying to be something it’s not or over reach which is really pleasing.

Couldn't fault the room. Evening meal was very good and compared well in pricing against local pubs. Good breakfast, ordered night before.

I did not stay at the hotel only used the bar. Walked off the street polite staff directed me to the bar all covid compliant very helpful & the drinks was a high standard. Will visit again all round amazing experience.

Had the best roast pork I have ever eaten. Fresh delicious veg and beautiful meat. Great service and lots of space.

Staff were friendly & helpful. My meal was delicious, although disappointed with the desert. Loved the log fire, bigger room did get a little chilly. The lounge was a lot cosier.

Stayed here for a wedding. Staff where all friendly and helpful. Food was amazing and extremely well presented. I give the restaurant 5 stars. The only reason I've given 4 stars is because the rooms are so outdated and basic. The bed was not comfortable as far too soft with rock hard pillows, no air con and the window would not stay open as they are sash windows and kept dropping down. The shower was adequate but not great. No hairdryer in the room, so had to borrow from another room.The village is lovely with great views and walks along the river.

A very special place to me and my family. We had our wedding reception here and it was fantastic. We returned a year to the day, we sat in the garden having a beer together and we had an unexpected gift... A slate of dessert with our anniversary date piped on to it. Completely unexpected. A truly lovely place, filled with lovely people.

Stopped off today spontaneously for a Friday afternoon lunch. The food was superb and the staff were so friendly and chatty. A really pleasant experience. Might call in next Friday again to sample some more tasty food from the menu!
