Blaina Wharf in Newport

Table pre booked and ready for our arrival. Quick friendly service at the bar and waitresses. Carvery was outstanding. Always loved this place since it opened and will continue to visit. Also provides blue light card discount. Which is always heart warming

Unfortunately not great. Not been there in ages due to covid . I ordered pie / mash / gravy. Extra onion rings. Partner had steak. The mushroom was actually raw. The steak was also awful. Mine was obviously smash as it tasted awful. Onion rings were so oily. The oil was dripping off them. We had replacement mushrooms which were again just sat in oil. They originally forgot my extra sauce so they went to get another. Totally awful. The waitress was lovely and very apologetic, the manager was also helpful but originally offered a free pudding. I just said I would prefer a refund. Which they did fully. Overall very disappointed as it wasn't cheap but looked cheap and not presented well at all. The kitchen staff must be bored as it was all just slopped on the plate. Don't think we will eat there again.

Have been a few times and their food and drinks are always good and fresh. I did go one and they over cooked my steak but the staff were lively and replaced this with a smile on their face. I would recommend going here 🙂

One of the best carvery/roast dinner I've had out in a long time. The selection of vegetables and meats was fantastic and so tasty. The chef was super friendly and accommodating. Thank you so much we'll most definitely be back 😊

The food was boiling warm, was greeted with a smile and welcome. Food isn’t too expensive and neither are the drinks, I had the curry which was so filling and had a lovely spice to it. We also liked how the sauces, salts and peppers etc was all on the table ready, as most places your walking around looking for salt or ketchup which me and my partner both said was nice having it all on our table for once. Overall, lovely experience, beautiful food, great customer service and clean fast working environment

Wonderful choice of menu. I am a vegetarian and usually we are limited for choice, but at your bistro the choice is excellent. It is an excellent bar with staff that are very helpful. Both starters and deserts also have a variety of dishes that will suit all tastes. I noticed that entertainment is also on offer on several evenings a week. You can also order takeaways which is a great way to take lovely cakes etc. home. I cannot praise the Blaenau Wharf enough.

Popped in for a meal while in Newport to waste an hour while waiting for someone. The pub was clean and complying with Covid regulations that were in place at the time. Staff were welcoming. We opted for the carvery. Good value for money the stuffing wasn't to my taste but everything else was tasty.

We had a great visit....we are a complicated party of three...one vegan, one lactose intolerant and one coeliac. We had carvery and our server made sure exactly what we could all have.....if she wasn't sure she went to the kitchen and asked. This was brilliant as most places give you a book and you have to work things out yourself. We weren't made to feel as if we were a nuisance and nothing was too much trouble. Well done Blaina.... already booked for next Sunday .

I have to say service was very friendly, chatty and efficient. Drinks were fine but the food was awful. The meats were all massively overcooked (if your going to have meat sitting out it has to have to be in a steamed environment, like a meat trolly with a dome, the meat is in aHot steamy environment and it keeps it moist) the roast potatoes we were told just out the oven but were not even cooked there was no colour to themAt all. Advice fluff the potato’s up then drop them in the chip fryer and you will get perfect roasts.

Me and the family really enjoyed our visit today to have a meal out. The staff is really friendly. Survive with a smile is what we like to see. Definitely be back again,
