Mamma Lina's in Newport

Visited here for a birthday celebration. Large group of us. Sorry to say that the food was extremely disappointing. Brucetta for starters was plain and on stail bread too. The main course wasn't great either with the chicken being over cooked and the vegetables not seasoned either. Sorry won't be going back. Far better Italian's around such as Casa Bianca and Panevino further away granted but we'll worth a visit.

Booked two course lunch special which was delicious, loads of garlic mushrooms and chicken in cream sauce and chips excellent.Lovely service ,would recommend

Went with a party of 11. We had to pre-order our choices from the menu. The service was good and the staff were friendly. The food was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant for a nice experience eating out. It is not cheap, but it is quality. Thank you Mama Lina's.

Visited Mama Lina's for the first time recently. I was part of a party of 8. Staff were efficient and friendly. Menu is quite extensive and varied. I had calamari as starter, not quite what I was expecting, it was chewy rather than soft and crisp. For main I had a lamb pasta dish, this was nice. Delicious tiramisu to end the meal.All the food was well presented. To my taste, both of my dishes were excesively salty.Nice atmosphere, an enjoyable evening was had by all.

Stunning venue, especially with the Christmas décor. The food was lovely and reasonably priced and the staff were all very good even when it got busy. I will definitely go back.

Had a lovely meal at Mamma Linas tonight.The food was delicious, and service was excellent. The restaurant was spotlessly clean.My vegetables were a bit tough, however, there was no problem, and was offered a side salad to compensate, which was delicious.All my family enjoyed their meals.At last found a nice restaurant that I and my family, would happily return to.Update:Second visit to Mamma Linas.Sadly on this occasion it was not so good.The staff are lovely and the service is fine, but the food was not as good as our first experience of the restaurant.The soup was completely tasteless, watery, and bland, so much so that I had to add a lot of pepper and some cheese off the table to get any flavour. The chicken main course was quite dry, with no seasoning again.On a brighter note, two of our party had pizza's, which were good.I did mention the soup to the staff. I was told that people prefer to add their own seasoning.This might be true about salt, but other than that, no.However, I didn't bother to send back the two mains as it was pretty busy, and would have probably had to wait a long time.I really think the food should be sampled occasionally to check flavours, etc.Its such a shame, as myself and family were really looking forward to going again.

Had a lovely meal here for my daughters birthday, the staff were really friendly, the kind lady helped my daughter cut her birthday cake and dished it out for everyone. There were 20 people on our table and they didn't make one mistake and the food was amazing. Best Italian I have been too.

Lovely family-run restaurant, friendly staff and great Italian food. The metre-long pizza and bottomless prosecco was amazing!

Great food - as a veggie I went for two starters served as main, delicious and ample. Efficient and very friendly service. The only downside was the noise. It was very difficult to hold a conversation. Upstairs could definitely do with some sound deadening measures. At times it was really over the top. But credit to the busy but lovely serving team.
