Rafters in Newport

Served by Martin at Rafters. The whole experience from start to finish was amazing. Martin is a credit to the establishment. Food was lovely. Thank you for making it feel so special.

Didn't take many photos of the food as I was busy enjoying myself! The food was delicious and the staff were excellent.The guy at the front desk was amazing while we waited for the shuttle back to the hotel, It was very late so he showed us around a little which was lovely.We had a 3 course meal and so full by the time we finished desserts which was yum! Can't wait to visit again.

Poor Sunday lunch. Starter and desserts were great however the main course was very poor. Menu stated it was served with ‘glazed carrots and parsnips’ which was a poor use of the plurals as there was one carrot and one parsnip. Also said cauliflower cheese which was nowhere to be seen. Very disappointing for the price and venue. The staff were also very pushy and clearly trying to rush us so they could close.

Visited for lunch, a lovely restaurant with great staff and very nice food. It was our first visit to Rafters and we weren't disappointed, very nice lunch menu. Very nice setting with stunning countryside views from the dining room. Would definitely recommend.

Went there lastnight for a black tie Christmas dinner/party and fair to say that although the night was great (company i was in) the way it was set out being across 2rooms with only a dj in the 1room leaving us and others in another room feeling abit left out of the atmosphere was not good. Also the food that was served up was not the best and in fact looked like we were served “pet food” as we could only describe it and was not the best value for money. I will not be going back there. Totally disappointed

Limited menu, but the food was nice. All the staff except for maybe 2 were All students, no customer service skills jsut standing around talking whilst over 4 tables were waiting. We waited 50 minutes for dessert... And that wasn't just us. We couldn't get anyone's attention for that whole time either. Shocking service especially for the establishment.

Abysmal service. Staff made it clear they were perturbed by the children asking for their meals more than 45 minutes after orders were placed. Children's menu could be more imaginative, service more prompt. The food, when it arrived, was delicious!

Lovely hotel. Bit complicated to know where to go on the drive in, but soon sorted. Underground parking. First 3 hours free with various rates up to £15 for overnight. Check in easy and our rooms were ready even though we were early for check in. Reception area beautifully decorated for Xmas. Plenty of seating in bar area.Room was lovely with soft and firmer pillows and bed very comfortable. Bathroom nice and clean. Haven't given 5 stars as toilet wouldn't flush even after maintenance man said it was working properly. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a fridge with various drinks which are applied to your bill when you take them out of the fridge. No hair dryer in room but one sent up when we phoned housekeeping.Breakfast was fine, usual choices available. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate brought to your table.Drink prices were as you would expect for this class of hotel. Gin and tonic was £7.90, flavoured gin about a pound more. Bottle of sparkling rosé was £38. Bottle of sparkling water around £3.We came for the Vegas evening in Rafters. Food was beautiful, 3 bottles of wine on the table. We had £300 of pretend money to gamble with or there was a disco to dance the night away. A thoroughly enjoyable night away either friends. Look forward to my nectar stay

Superb resort. The Hunters Lodges are luxurious and all 3 golf courses are magnificent and quite different from each other. Would go again and again. Just watch out for the fog that lingers in the valley of the 2010 Ryder Cup course. When we arrived in late October to play it the other 2 courses up the top were in glorious sunshine but the 2010 course was closed due to the fog! Did get out on it later in the morning once the fog lifted, just a little delayed, and it was then a gloriously sunny round too.

Visited Rafters for the first time with my partner. This was meant to be the nicest and most luxurious restaurant in the Celtic Manor. The food was ok, but don't feel that it lived up to the prices. The staff were bickering over who would get to serve us and led to drinks being "lost" as one forced another away.. was embarrassing and awkward. There was no offer of additional drinks during the evening. Whilst other tables emptied, we were left for 20 minutes before I managed to get the attention of someone to request our bill.Whilst this is the quietest restaurant on the resort, it's probably the worst.
