this place was very shocking thay had very little to order no mushrooms rice spring rolls or garlic mushrooms and so on I was very unhappy with it

This afternoon was the last time we would give our money to this place.They try to overcharge if you send your kids in.When confronted the lady gets rude and starts shouting.The other owner apologised for their family member trying to overcharge. If this was a mistake its understandable but trying to deliberately rip off a kid is a no go!!Their rudeness led me to return their food and go down the road.This place does not value its customers and we can see this from the disgusting service and the hygiene rating they're happy to provide their customers with.This slow boat is a sinking one.

Come for the curry sauce, stay for the friendly service, great value, pancake rolls, special fried rice and much, much more.It's so nice to see a family run business that hasn't been ruined by the DeliverEats of this world.Uncle Roger would approve of the rice and the orange colour scheme. Fuiyoh.

Really disappointed tonight as not ordered here in a while as found better Chinese in wai wai maesglas but they were shut so returned to slow boat. Chicken chow main was inedible as tasted like inside of an ashtray and all the portions were tiny in little pots so spent £18 and only fed 3 out of 5 of us so I went hungry to feed my 3 kids and hubby made do with other food in house as no kitchen as refitting this week. Chicken balls were not balls looked like flat chicken nuggets reheated in hot oil and egg fried rice very greasy aswell as the chips so won't be returning any time soon unfortunately 😐

Once you taste the curry sauce from the Slow Boat you will never want any other Chinese curry sauce. It is the best. Unique. We've been buying it for almost 30 years! It is hot. Sometimes hotter than others. It is not open on Mondays except on Bank Holidays. Try it and see if you like it. The rest of their food is great too. We love it.

Have been using the slow boat for over 20 years! The food quality has definately taken a nose dive. The gristle and fat in the special fried rice was off putting, and the pancake roll tasted burnt and was inedible. The only saving grace is their amazing curry sauce, but sadly I won't be calling there again as I drive from Cardiff to Newport to collect, and it is a waste of time and money now.maybe they have changed their chef, something is different, and not altogether very enjoyable.
