The Ship Inn in Newport

Food was nice, that's the only reason why they got 3 stars. The staff just didn't care about us just walked in nobody was there to greet us, after 20mins i had to go get my own menu from the bar the place was dead quiet! And some of the staff members where on their phones behind the bar just not bothered. Was going to order dessert but nobody came to see use for about half hour! so we just left. Wouldn't come back if the same staff was there. It's ashame.

Went there Christmas Eve, no body told my autistic son that he had to put his number plate into the machine, we received a £60 parking fine, called the ship for help, spoke to a woman called Helen who advised she was the manager and had resolved this with Parking eye and to ignore the letter, we’ve now received a court threat and the fine is now £170, if it goes to court I will use the recorded call advising us to ignore the £60 fine as resolved by the ship and make a full recovery from them for all costs incurred, this is disgusting they were even aware that we were there due to my husbands death. I’ve looked at the reviews and this has happened more than once.

A really nice pub with a children's play area outside. Good food and friendly staff. Recommended.

Absolutely delicious home cooked Sunday roast. We had the big one with all the meats and it was epic! Yorkies and Cauliflower cheese as well. Very impressed glad to have tried this place and its local so deffo be going back again! Lovely staff and setting as well

Had Sunday lunch today. Very relaxed atmosphere, service fantastic, staff great … and the food was superb! Probably the best Sunday lunch we’ve had!! Would highly recommend!

Best Sunday lunch ever!! All freshly cooked meats, good choice. Beef brisket so tender melted in mouth. Fresh vegetables. Lovely staff. Owner very attentive. Well worth a visit any day of the week.

Really great time and meal for Christmas Day. The ship was an amazing place for the family to celebrate Christmas Day.The food was really great & the service was really amazing.Food was served quickly and all hot and delicious. 3 course Christmas dinner was awesome, plus the complimentary drinks.The staff were really great and welcoming, they were very friendly and helpful and were always at hand for anything we needed.Even down to the coffee it was great. Big thanks to all , we had a great time and would recommend totally.

Just had the philly cheesesteake. It was luke warm at best in the middle. Steak was chewy, and no seasoning at all! The roll was nothing like the picture and was stale and doughy ,very disappointed, And for just shy of £7 not worth it.
