Possibly the worst eating out experience I’ve had. Booked online on Wednesday for Fathers Day breakfast today at 9am. Arrived at 9.04 with hubby and two small children. Waited for table, no greeting from staff. When someone finally came to us they ticked us off the table list and cleared a table for us. I asked for a highchair (which was on my booking) only to be told “they’re over there” by staff. We sat down and waited ten mins for someone to come and give us a menu or acknowledge us. We called a staff member over who said “sorry I’m reception I don’t know, but I’ll find out”. She disappeared and a few mins later someone else came over. I asked for a menu and was asked who we booked with as she apparently didn’t know about the booking. I showed her my booking and she disappeared. Another lady came over a few mins later and said they could offer us a breakfast but we’d have to wait as all the hotel residents take priority and they can’t serve us until they are all finished. No offer of even a coffee while we wait. It’s 9.30, kids are hungry. We left. Great start to Fathers Day.. we won’t be back.

Overnight stay with dinner and breakfast. Both had the barbecue chicken & it was delicious.Covid somehow caused the breakfast to be served in a takeaway bag, sausage & bacon roll , juice & pastries. Very nice but felt a bit strange.

We had a breakfast for which we payed 10 pounds each. The coffee is really light. It took me a bit to see if it's coffee or tea. They gave us to choose from exactly the items that you find on a normal english breakfast. I was expecting to find at least a pastry or anything. I would buy it again

Warm and welcoming. The Ty Newydd hotel where Caradogs restaurant is based does a lot of weddings, and it's certainly a romantic setting. Has outside covered tables as well. Helpful friendly table service.

Popped in for a coffee today but apparently the coffee machine was broken and it would seem that's the only way this hotel can make a coffee. Surprised they have no kettle!Outside areas need a spruce up, tables were left messy, some just knocked together, cigarette ends gathered all in one ashtray. Workmans ladder lying about and an unfinished astro turf area. This place must pay attention to detail!!!

Very disappointing. We ordered a bottle of champagne (PJ) and they were going to serve us the warm one, just out of the shelf. I got up in time and intervened, advising we only would drink a chilled bottle so we changed to Moet.We both ordered steaks and they were an even bigger disappointment. Chewy, burned outside (even on a medium).Staff were attentive but clueless on basic rules of dining service. Didn’t give us steak knifes or offered sauces for the chips (I had to ask for both).Do yourself a favour and have dinner somewhere else.

Unfortunately very disappointed.Have eaten here many times but it has gone down hill.Should have realised things had changed when I ordered steak and not asked how I would like it. Did not fancy chips, so I had mash, which was obviously reconstituted (powdered). To finish I had the weakest, flatest, cappuccino I have had the misfortune to not drink.

Came with a big group of people (around 16 of us) but still no reason for the food and experience we got. One veggie option which was linguine and I ordered chips on the side but didn't receive it. I also ordered a pudding but I also didn't receive one. The people in my group who ordered steak said it was like cardboard and had no sauce so tasted like charcoal. Also there were mouse droppings in the bathroom. Wouldn't come back here again.

Lovely fresh food reasonably priced. Free parking and easy to find just off the main road. Staff are really nice and helpful if you want it. Only went for lunch but great experience. Menu is a little limited but I like that and potion size is adequate. Desert are small for the price. Photos do not do this place justice. Can't wait to go back and try the evening fine dining menu.

Went for a trip to Brecon Beacons and on way back found Caradogs. We turned up at about 5.20 before start of service at 6. We booked a table for 6 and went for a quick walk around the gardens, which were lovely. Richard the chef actually came and found us to say come up to the restaurant early as they weren't to busy and could start for us which was really welcoming. Food was fresh and tasted good. Carl at reception. Was lovely. All in all a fab place, with really good food and place was beautiful.
