The Crispy Cod in Rhondda Cynon Taf

Crispy Cod in Gelli is our favourite fish and chips takeaway and delivery, but we thought we'd eat in one Sunday when we didn't fancy cooking. The restaurant is bright and airy and spotlessly clean. We were greeted warmly and given the menu blackboard. We both chose the haddock and chips, and it was a beautiful bit of fish, dazzlingly white flesh, golden and crispy batter, piles of proper chips and absolutely not greasy. Huge portions and you could taste how fresh the fish was. Superb!

Not good yet to have a fresh fish, always dry inside. Not many places in Rhondda do a fresh fish, public are not stupid, we know fresh fish when it is served

This chip shop/restraunt establishment is very well run. I had Haddock and my wife had the Chicken platter and we were both very impressed with the quality. The chips were crispy yet fluffy inside, a rare combination these days. The restaurant area was beautifully clean and the toilets were spotless!If the public toilets are clean then I think you can always take it as a given that the kitchen area will be the same. The hand dryer wasn't working but apart from they were perfect. THAT'S RARE.The young lass who served us was polite and seemed genuinely interested that we were enjoying our meal. In my time in south Wales I've yet to find a better fish and chip shop. RECOMMENDED*Update 11-4-22*Returned today as we found out that the seated resturaunt area is now open again. Happy to report that the food is every bit as good as before and we really enjoyed our meal there.The hand dryer is now working too 😆Well done Crisp Cod.STILL RECOMMENDED.

Service but long 20mins infact but not busy just two infrount of me .ordered fish chips and batted sausage. .but I did notice customer ordered after me .fish chips and got it straight away .perhaps because he was local.?? I now live near but I'm Cornish ..there others places to try..

They have a nice menu some different options which is lovely to see. The food is always a great quality, we have been several times now at different times of the day and never has any issues..The staff are very polite and always smiling it's a bit of a trek for us but we will always keep going back , you must try this place I recommend it ☺️

Lovely place and always lovely service from the ladies. I have noticed the quality of food has declined in the past few months, which is honestly such a shame. The Crispy Cod was honestly the best chippy I have ever tried! Recently the fish has been seriously oily and the batter has been tasteless. Also seemed odd to me that the batter was a different colour to my partners? Unfortunately the chips have been dry and tasteless but we come back hoping it was just a one off. I truly hope the quality will go back to what it always has been, I haven’t given up! I’ll keep coming back but honestly just dissatisfied recently. All the best for the New Year and I truly hope whatever the concerns are can be remedied as I believe in the business! X

No haddock in stock shame as that's my go to fish. The cod was not as high quality as some chippys which surprised me as this place is hyped about. The sausage in batter was also not that good. The batter was doughy on the inside and sausage mushy in the middle. The chips were really nice and the curry sauce. Fantastic presentation 🐟🐟🐟 An ok chip shop but don't listen to the over hype as it sets a bar way higher than it delivered. 👌

Been wanting to visit for ages, managed to pick up one of their seafood platters for New Years Eve. Fantastic quality fresh seafood. Loved everything. Can't wait to visit in the future for some Fish & Chips

We have visited the Crispy Cod on several occasions and we have never been disappointed with the quality of the food and serviceThere is a take away at the front of the premises with a comfortable licensed seated eat in area at the rearThere is a varied menu with several different types of fish and other meals all superbly cooked and freshly prepared with generous portions all served with a smileThe food here is simply outstanding and simply deliciousWe love this place and we highly reccomend it !Jeff & Karen
