Norton House Restaurant in Swansea

We came here as wedding guests of a friend who was wed here. A lovely environment with plenty of parking. The hotel itself (that I saw of it) was of suitably grand architecture, immaculately kept. Now I'm not sure whether the catering was external for the wedding, or catered by the hotel, but every staff member I encountered was polite, friendly, efficient and suitably attentive without being intrusive. The wedding itself was one of the most impressive I have attended, but I know that was driven the bride's vision, management, attention to detail and considerate nature. The wedding and the hotel dovetailed nicely.We didn't stay in the rooms, but this hotel is handy for all of the nice things Mumbles has to offer and you are a very short stroll form the famous mumbles beach, Oystermouth castle and various woodland walks and parkland. I live about 45 minutes away, but were I to want a weekend in Mumbles, I'd choose here.If you can, try and avoid going through Swansea to get here. It's not terrible, but the coastal road skirts the city centre and traffic can get a bit irritating

I attended on Valentines evening for dinner and stayed in an executive double room.From the moment we areived nothing was too much. We were greeted with a complimentary drink.The restaurant was arranged to accommodate social distancing and the size lent itself to intimate pleasurable dining. We could have a conversation and not hear that of others.The valentines meal was superb. Perfectly timed and portioned. I did order a bottle of wine which wasn’t to my taste, however, that is my fault and my fault alone. Plating was superb. Romantic music was performed quietly by a very talented artist.The staff were excellently turned out and supremely professional.The room was beautifully decorated and very well appointed. With a complimentary bottle if wine which was very enjoyable.Breakfast was very impressive. Prepared to order and again, beautifully presented.Overall it was a delightful experience.So much so, that we approached management about booking for next year.Thank you to all for a wonderful experience.Tom Balfe.

Had a pleasant , calm and relaxed lunch time meal with friends. Good choice of items on the menu: I chose haggis, neets & tatties for starters (it was Burns Night this week) and the seafood pasta for my main course. Both very good.My friends were also happy with their choices.Staff member pleasant and helpful. Nice large car park.

If I could give zero stars I would. We stayed for 2 nights and at 3am on our first night our door was unlocked and in walked another guest who had been given our key for a room change. When we complained twice to the manager our complaint was simply forgotten about. Disgusting. Also we paid premium price for evening meal that was awful. We actually heard the microwave pinging. What an absolute disgrace. Stay here at your peril!!!

Recently stayed in The Norton House Hotel.First impressions was this looks lovely! Went into reception to find no one there to greet us especially after ringing the bell 3 times forward someone to come out mid conversation with someone else in the back room.He then gave us our room key and didnt even tell us where our room was. We had to ask him to show us, we had 2 keys and he wasn't sure which key it was to open the door.We went out to eat as we had booked a restaurant up the road. When coming back there was a lot of loud music coming from a room above us but didn’t think much of it as it was around 11:00 and we thought it would quite down soon as it was nearly 12:00. By 1:00AM the music was still playing, i could hear people singing to the music word for word above me and constant door banging as if people were going from one room to another. At one point we could hear arguing and doors banging continuously. This was around 3/3:30AM my partner and I were wondering how much longer this could go on for as by this point we were tired and frustrated and knew it would not stop as concierge had left at 11:00.By 3:30/4AM I could hear people outside talking and arguing so i went out to find out what was going on as I had had enough! I was met by the couple next door to us to had got the chef out of bed who stays in the hotel to move them to another room due to lack of sleep from the constant music and banging! I told the chef how i felt and he just shrugged his shoulders and said “Im the chef” and quickly walked the opposite direction.As he left a couple from 2 doors away from our room were also moving rooms due to the noise! By this point my only option was to complain in the morning.At breakfast the one couple mentioned they moved rooms only to walk in on someone in bed in the room they got moved too. The other couple stated they were complaining! As i was! Also breakfast was not a lot of selection for a cooked breakfast. They had 1 little toaster for the whole of the hotel, which tripped all the electricity when having breakfast.When leaving the hotel the lady who dealt with us did not mention anything about the situation. She was very much aware as when I mentioned how disappointing the stay was and i would not return. She replied with “the guests that were being a disturbance will have a stern talking to!” Which in my opinion is not the answer. Surely they would prefer to keep the 6 customers happy that respected their hotel and other paying guests rather than the drunken, disrespectful couple. I was told i would get a phone call from “the owner” but obviously I didn’t hear from anyone.My opinion stay clear if this place as they do not rectify situations well or at all. Such a disappointing stay. We were looking at a Premier Inn as it was much cheaper but next time I’ll stick with a Prem Inn.I am still waiting for them to contact me.

Had a really great 3 course Christmas Lunch here...food delicious & our 2 tables all served quickly. Restaurant was tastefully decorated & was light, bright & airy. Staff attentive. Never been disappointed here

Very lovely staff, perfect location, a few issues though. The shower door in our room was prevented from fully opening due to the position of the shower, so it was a squeeze to get in. 4am fire alarm caused by a 'known fault' - thankfully we didn't need to evacuate, breakfast nothing special - sausage had been pre-cooked and was cold, but plenty of lovely pastries, cereals etc. Would we return? Probably not, but it was nice for our one night stay.

Friendly welcoming staff. Comfortable clean and pleasant room, if a little cosy. Excellent food and good value. Would definitely visit again.

After an unfortunate experience with a different hotel we were able to book in to The Norton House hotel in Mumbles . What a treat. From the minute we stepped into the hotel the service was excellent. We were greeted with a smile and our luggage was carried up the stairs to our room. The room itself was comfortable and pleasantly decorated . The bathroom was special with a walk in shower and a very clean modern decor. We found all of the staff friendly and helpful and our evening meal was excellent as was the breakfast. We were only sorry that the hotel was fully booked as we would have liked to stay longer.

Very pleasant surroundings. Beautiful location. Lovely and quiet. We had an annex room No.12 to be precise. Cozy and warm with our own little patio but soundproofing could be better. Only had breakfast at the hotel because we were out and about during the day but very nice it was. Light continental and full English with fresh coffee.
