The Picnic Bench in Swansea

Fantastic. We have been keeping tabs on the progress of this little gem as we pass it everyday. The amount of effort they have made to make it look amazing is the reason we booked for opening weekend. The great news is the food is just as good, I had he American and the wife had the Mexican bench we shared bits (don’t tell Trump) very tasty and the staff were lovely. Had free top ups on my fries and the drinks were very reasonable. All in all Sketty has just got itself another great little local business and we will 100% be back for more.Thanks guys

Went with a few friends to the picnic bench for the first time the other night, absolutely loved the selection of benches and the quirkiness of the restaurant. Mark and the team made us feel very welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed the food! (can recommend the american bench!) Will 100% be returning!

We really really wanted this place to be great. After having 2 picnics at The Bush Inn in Hereford, we were excited to find out there would be somewhere closer to home where you even got to choose from a range of picnic benches. The pictures online and reviews were amazing so we had high hopes. We ordered our food when we booked ahead so it was a real let down when we had to wait an hour and a quarter once we got there. We had four young children with us who got very impatient and found it hard to sit waiting. Other problem (which I know is beyond their control) was that the acoustics in the restaurant amplify all sounds so, even though the children were not being very loud, we were constantly trying to keep them quiet so that the other customers wouldn't be disturbed. There aren't any kind of soft furnishings to dampen the noise. The long wait and the bad acoustics meant that my sister spent most of the time outside with her 1 year old so we didn't get to enjoy her company much. When the food finally came, I was shocked. It looked nothing like the pictures on the internet or the menu. Everything thing had clearly been swapped for cheaper and quicker to make alternatives and there was less there. I definitely didn't have the 'assorted treats' that were on the menu. As well as being poor quality and not having everything written on the menu, the food was cold. My sister, who had been standing outside, could see into the kitchen and said that some of the food had just been sitting around for ages. I was told to ask for my churros and ice cream when I was ready so that the ice cream didn't melt, but when I was ready, there was no one around to ask and, the few times that someone did pass, we couldn't get their attention. By the time I got them, everyone else had finished and the started packing up because the children were desperate to go so I had to eat them so quickly that it wasn't enjoyable. The one redeeming factor was that Mark was so lovely and he was amazing talking to the children. If he hadn't been so great I would have given 1 star. I think it all came down to lack of staff and trying to cut production costs which really let them down. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. We'll make the trip to Hereford where you get a lot more food of a far higher quality for the same price.

Fantastic place to eat. Love the theme. Went with a friend while on holiday and we had different choice picnic benches. Mine was vegetarian. Delicious and such wonderful presentation.

Went last night as a group of six and all absolutely loved it. Great selection of local food laid out in a unique way. The staff on were great, really friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Well worth a visit!

Definitely a must go! Staff are so welcoming and food is amazing lots of choice and tastes fantastic!
