I usually do not write poor reviews, but this one really striked me. I am/was customer with Village Hotel for 3-4 years and had no issues. Until I have invited my partner to join gym/swimming pool. With the help of staff we created her a new account and added the same bank details as on my account. Unfortunately, partner's mum had go to hospital and my partner had to move places to stay with her parents. What we did: We tried contacting Village Gym support to terminate her account but was refused to do so, even when we filled out the cancelation form. It appears when the account was created we been asked DO you want to pay Monthly or Annually? We chose monthly, but it seems we have been put on 12 month contract WITHOUT telling us, WE would have chosen annual pay if we planned to go there for 12 months. NOBODY told us that her account is being put on 12 month contract and we feeling really deceived. I ended up paying for 2 accounts without possibility to cancel my partners.I really wish if Village Gym could contact us and help us resolve the issue.

We drove 4 hrs with two babies to get here. Then they said there was no booking under my name. Even after giving the booking ref. Took over 15 mins to look for our reservation ignoring the fact that we were so tired and had two hungry kids with us. Then finally when they found the booking, they are like your room is only booked for two people. Where are the kids gonna sleep ? I said we booked a family room big enough for all 4 of us. Then they changed the tone. Anyhow gave us a room and said the ‘sofa bed will be ready in couple of house. We checked in at 7 and they expected us to keep the kids awake till they sorted the sofa bed. Absolutely disgusting. Will never book this hotel again.

We paid over £150 for one evening, room only. The room was awful - bathroom was outdated, mould around the window, half the lights didn't have work (someone did come to try and fix them but to no avail), bathroom door had a chunk missing out of it, door hadn't been painted well- they had painted around the frame rather than opening the door, sky didn't work (we paid for a Club upgrade). Email sent to the Manager and we were offered an upgrade or VIP package when we return but we won't be returning. Always really enjoyed Village Hotels so it's a shame. We stayed in room 522, on the plus side- it did have a lovely view. Premier Inn rooms are up to a much higher standard.

We had a lovely, clean and spacious room with a nice view on the 4th floor. The staff were helpful and the breakfast was delicious. I've given 4 stars as the food was quite expensive and the jacuzzi was out of action for for our entire stay (5 days) and we only got to use the steam room for 2 days as the rest of the time it was broken! Had everything been working I probably would have given 5*.

Hotel is starting to look very tired and very much in need of updating. Breakfast offering was poor and chaotic and it was dark and dismal. Evening meal not up to standard, expensive for offering and poor Customer Service. Sadly being on the 4th floor the call button wasn't working so had to walk down the stairs to the 3rd floor lift. My partner is awaiting knee replacement surgery so this wasn't ideal and would have been a problem for someone with more disability. On a positive note we were checked in with a friendly smile and a courteous and professional individual pity the rest of our stay didn't live up to our first impression.

My partner booked two nights here as a surprise for my birthday. We went out on the Sunday night and got back around 9pm from a lovely meal to go and have a drink in the bar, we took a seat and waited a while to be served, I noticed that there was a customer being served at the bar, I went over and asked for two Budweiser to be told it’s table service only, I was a bit baffled as there was a customer buying a drink and paying for it at the bar, I replied ok we are sat round by there, I took my seat and as i turned around the customer previously at the bar was sat down with his drink and then to see the young girl was collecting glasses off other tables. Why tell me it’s table service only if she didn’t want to serve us ?I said to my partner that’s a bit rude and the customer who was at the bar starting laughing at me.I thought this was awful behaviour from both bar person and customer, so we leftthe bar and returned to our room.Totally ruined my night !!We were planning another trip for valentines weekend, I told my partner not to bother if this was how we were going to be treated. The rooms needed a proper clean too as there was dust on the hinges to the bathroom and we found empty crisps and sweet wrappers under our bed looking for a missing sock.Where we sat for breakfast there was dust all on the beam running along side our table. The 2 ladies and the gentleman serving breakfast were outstanding and extremely helpful, thank you to you guys x

Why continue to take bookings in full knowledge you cannot cater for your guests . We have paid nearly £500 for a three night stay to be told restaurant is full , you cant even go in the bar for a drink because it is all booked up.I was then told you should have booked , fair comment I suppose but if you don’t answer your phone when I have been trying all day that’s not likely to happen is it. I can honesty say I have never experienced anything like it , for what is supposed to be a Hotel of reasonable quality it’s understaffed , grubby and the last place I would choose to stay in the future .

Had a group Christmas meal here last Sunday. We were seated in the bar area which I was surprised at but it was fine as not too busy thankfully. The food was excellent and the service also pretty good. Very pleasant afternoon indeed. Thanks all.

First impressions do not last, while the lobby looks impressive and the staff are helpful the rooms don't actually do it any justice. The room I had was very poorly lit, while modern on first impressions, the room I stayed in was bartered and very tired looking but on first entering the room you can't really notice it straight away as I arrived late and the room was very poorly lit. Poor excuse for a room, trying to be something more than just a hotel room... The bathroom was also poor, the vanity mirror lights were flashing away and were not working properly, luckily I didn't have any sort photosensitive epilepsy, otherwise I may of been in trouble.I didn't enjoy my stay. And the following morning I was out promptly and didn't stop for breakfast. Only positives I found were location and parking facilities.

Been a few times now. Rooms OK somewhere to get your head down. Little grubby in places. Last three bookings my room has not been what I requested and ended up in a disabled room twice?? . Staff are friendly, helpful and happy to help, very pleasant to deal with. Bar is nice, breakfast is good and there a nice Starbucks. There is a gym and pool which was always busy, not too busy tho
