Harvester Cwmbran in Torfaen

The experience was poor. We were in the restaurant for 2 hours in 20 minutes. The delay was caused by the speed of the service. The wait for the salad bar was so long that the starter arrived as we started eating the salad. We then waited over 40 minutes for the main course. We weren't offered more drinks so we had one drink which we drank before we were taken to the salad bar. Our dessert was prepared but left waiting to be brought to us on top of the kitchen counter so the ice cream was melted. The staff didn't seem happy so didn't make us feel welcome. There is a lot of room for improvement.

While we appreciated it was busy due to Fathers Day the whole process took an incredibly long time for what it was. The staff were busy but our waitress in particular was slow, distracted and disinterested. We ordered then had to ask our waitress twice to please bring us our drinks - by the time she’d brought our drinks over we’d been sat there for 45 minutes. Our food was mediocre at best, cold and unappetising at worst. The kids were ok with their chicken strips and mash which were an appropriate portion size and appetising to a child (hence the extra star) but our “flatbreads” were cold and miserable with a small wilted lettuce leaf with soggy coleslaw on, the fillings (chicken on one, halloumi on the other) were cold and rubbery. We had to remind the waitress that we’d also ordered a side as this wasn’t brought over. We left after the main as we didn’t think it was worth staying for dessert. We were very disappointed.

The place was very clean was treated by the manager and was very friendly who seated us to our table, the waitress came over took out order and left, our food was brought out not very hot at all the meat ok our mixed grill was luke warm the only thing that was hot was our chips and we couldn’t get anyones attention to say about the food not being very warm so we just had to eat it, the customer service off our waitress was very poor we waited for ages after our meal to see if we wanted dessert or the bill and even then wasnt asked about our meal and no interaction off the waitress. So overall was a poor visit.

Staff didnt want to serve us the moment we come through the door. Lots of stock missing. Awful place. Salad bar was missing the suaces wasnt helpful at all food arrived minus items very cold an chips were very hard, next time pontypool refear us to here it will be rejected would not recommend to any one.

Great staff. Lily and Xavier are great hosts. I stayed chatting with my dining partner for about 3 hours, no pressure to leave, and the staff were polite and regularly checked when our drinks were running low.Food is good, cooked just how we asked. Not too busy so easy to get a cooked breakfast on a Monday, after getting a mixed grill on the Sunday! Clear options for veggies too.

Popped in for lunch today after visiting the cinema next door. We were met quite quickly at the front door and told immediately that the restaurant was a bit under-staffed and that service would be delayed; however, the staff were working really quickly and we didn't notice a delay at all.The restaurant itself is up-to-date with its decor, the seating (we had a booth) was comfortable, and most importantly it looked and felt clean. We also liked that the cutlery was good quality and the dinnerware was snazzy and contemporary. No issue with the temperature, look or taste of the food: nothing mind-blowing, but expectations were met.There were a couple of negative points.The salad bar was sub-par. There was no lettuce, very little tomato or cucumber. The main choice (without scraping the bottom of the barrel) was potato salad, pasta, beetroot, large chunks of onion and sweetcorn. At peak lunchtime, the salad bar only really had items that most people don't want.The other negative was the portion size. I ordered the double portion of chips with my meal, my wife the single. My plate arrived with the chips spread threadbare around my burger, and my wife's arrived with hers tightly packed into a little metal can. You know what I'm going to write... we emptied out her chips and she had more than I did. So, I mentioned this to our host, who got me more chips immediately and without any fuss... it's a little annoying though that these practices exist, and so commonly too.

Went to Cwmbran Harvester today for my mums birthday(never been in before/but used harvester before) All I can say was absolutely disappointing. The food was terrible and over priced for what it was,cold chips and a katsu burger which wasn't cooked properly, a mixed grill which has never contained ever chicken on the bone leg(always a breast) and on the final dish chicken and cheese that tasted reheated. Paid the bill and the young girl in her defence said I could have given you 20% off. Paid bill before this mentioned.Being generous giving 2 star 🌟 here but not a dining 🍽 experience I'd repeat anytime soon..

Service was slow,waited 45 minutes to be taken to the salad bar after being initially seated! Actual meal arrived about an hour & 10 minutes after being seated! Bill took 10-15 minutes to be sorted after having to actually ask for it twice and no one even bothered to ask at any point during our visit if our meal was ok!Such a shame as Cwmbran Harvest used to be much nicer than it is these days.

Staff was friendly. Service was quick and food and drink was amazing. Both my partner and children enjoyed the food and drinks. Will be coming back again and recommend to friends and family

The food was ok. The chips seemed a bit undercooked for my liking. My partner had a burger which had onion rings on it which were so overcooked they had no flavour and were beyond crunchy. The price was ok. The service was good and didn't take too long to come, but we did go on a Friday lunch so I couldn't judge for evening sittings.
