Cotton Mill in East Ayrshire

Very poor food, despite having a listing on the outside explaining what items they didn't have once we were seated and had drinks, after taking our order ( for 3 people) two of the items ordered were now not available(even though they were not on the warning list of unavailability outside) we then reorder 2 new items, despite making certain there was to be no tomatoes on the burger needless to say, multiple tomato slices arrived on the burger. Rather than waiting even longer we just removed the tomatoes as best we could, we did ask for mayonnaise when we ordered the burgers (then waited 20 minutes for the mayonnaise after the food had arrived, the other meal which was scampi was vastly overcooked, dry and tasteless. After this disappointing experience we were then presented with a bill for 5 meals including the 2 which we had originally ordered but not recieved, Not great. The table staff did seem to be trying to do their best but it didn't make up for the overall poor experience.

Went as a group of 5 for mother's day. Sign on door as you entered to say certain food and drink was unavailable. Food ordered was OK but took a little longer than expected the get a drink refill. Asked another server and ended up with 2 from different servers but still charged for them both. The cost of the meal was really good though as a 3 course was £15.99

No Sunday dinners.. on Sunday!! Winner winner chicken dinner was a massive looser. Service was meh..... no wonder no-one asked how the food was.. whole family disappointed. Next to a cook school too... maybe pop in and ask for some pointers.

We visited here on Sunday hoping to get a roast dinner but we were told they had sold out so we chose something else, waited over half an hour to be given cold meals & a very warm side of mac & cheese which was left sitting on table when they took main meals away to sort out, plates were back within 2 minutes still not warm but we had been there an hour by then, staff not really interested so we will definitely not be back

Having stayed on several occasions, tonight was made particularly enjoyable by our waitress Dayna. She was polite, informed and has a beaming smile. As an ex head of customer service for an international company I was really impressed. Service roles can be tough and even when faced with a tricky individual at a nearby table tonight, Dayna was courteous and polite.Keep up the good work.

Breakfast wasn't great quality. Hot breakfast was below average and continental was okay but bread and the likes of pancakes had all went hard. On the plus side very pleasant and helpful staff

We visited here on Christmas day at the first 12 noon which was the first sitting. This was booked to make things easier on Christmas day as my mum's health is deteriorating and we wanted to do something special. We have complained to the restaurant directly on the 27th of December and have had an unsatisfactory reply from them claiming that they have investigated service on the day and find they're to be no problems although on the previous gentleman's complaint they are apologising for errors on the day. We were seated and not given complimentary glass of fizz despite asking about it,server advised no complimentary drinks. We received our starters which were fine but then waited over 45 minutes for our main courses, which arrived cold and some not as described. We then had another wait for our desserts, they were seating the next setting and we were still there, we did not receive teas or coffees. My mum was very distressed at this point so we did not complain at the time to save from causing her further upset. We feel that the customer service has been very poor and quite accusing, my daughter had taken photos of the starters and her main which we submitted showing the times that they were served and that we were not lying. The manager had sent a voucher for £100 with her email reply but advised there were no delays on the day. We find this completely unacceptable after the upset caused, our party consisted of 6 adults and 2 children so I don't feel that we can all be wrong. As for Whitbreads, we also sent complaint to them on the same date and have only received a reply on the 27th of this month, thanking us for our feedback and they hope to see us again, very unlikely indeed. Shocking service from start to finish and extremely disappointing.

Third visit to this establishment. Used to do nice pizzas but now just the same as over generic whitbread establishments. Food is okay if a little pricey. Most of it is now microwaved as all you hear whilst you dine is the beep of the combi oven.What's really annoyed me on this visit is how patronising the waitress was when I tried to explain that the Belhaven Best was off. She suggested it was simply because I didn't like it and even suggested it was just not to my taste. It was sour and cloudy!

First time visiting and won’t be back. Staff were uninterested and lacked any sort of hospitality skills. Waiting times were a joke with no apology or any attempt of excuse given. Staff were so inattentive we could have walked, skipped and danced our way out the building without paying and the staff would’ve been none the wiser. Was expecting the waiter to reveal himself as Jeremy Beadle after the search party had found him.

Party of 5 visited as I was being treated for my birthday. We were in for over 2 hours and had only mains and coffees. Service was shocking. Steak pie was ordered and it was only an ordinary pie, some vegetables were cold. No communication with staff asking if our food was OK. It was although they couldn't be bothered! Certainly wouldn't recommend or be back.
