Where is De Waldens Garden Centre and Coffe shop?

🏠 Ayr Rd, Kilmarnock KA1 5LF

"** The Cafe is Open ** The Peace & Plenty Coffee Shop within Dewaldens Garden Centre is a friendly and inviting place to have breakfast or lunch. Built on the site of the Peace & Plenty, a nineteenth century colliers row built to house the workers of Capringtons Pits, renowned for their neat flower pots and well-tended gardens. The Peace & Plenty became Kilmarnock's last colliers row and was finally demolished in 1955. All that remains of that era is the low wall you can see from the Coffee Shop window that runs the length of the Garden Centre. The name however dates back to an ancient inn "with the custom of giving the traveller a liberal supply of oat cake and cheese to his dram.""

I buy my fuel here and the prices are very good for what I need. The cafe is clean and well appointed and the food is nice. Massive sprockets bicycle centre attached if you're into your cycling seems like it has everything covered that way. No issues and still appears to be family run.

We went for breakfast. We are vegetarians. After looking at the menu we asked the waitress what the options where and it was toast and scrambled egg. It was average and wouldn’t go back.

On arrival DeWaldens has a very spacious car park along with disabled parking. We entered the building to a friendly, polite welcome from employees. It is set out extremely well with a variety of items, with a cafe at the end of the building which has always had an excellent reputation. We both entered the cafe following the correct Covid procedure and we were seated at a table to which were cleaned after ever customer . Our waitress had extreme knowledge of the menu and specials. We ordered soup & sandwiches which were delicious and we even treated ourselves to cake which they also provide a selection.Overall we were very impressed with the quality of service, friendly and professional. We will certainly be back keep up the fantastic work team DeWaldens.

First time there. The garden area was a bit quiet because the time of the year but I'll go back in the spring. The cafe area was good well spaced good food and reasonably priced.

·

Lovely place but we just browsed as was looking for a meal nothing to friends taist that day.

·

Great place to stop off for coffee, good choices for breakfast/lunch & good variety of fresh cakes & scones on display. Can be busy but queue moves quickly. Garden Centre has some nice bits & pieces & there seems to be a baby section now too

First time in the coffee shop and although busy, we got our seat by the window without any problems. At 10.30am all we wanted was a coffee but decided to try the something from the menu. The 2 young servers were on the ball and the bacon and brie panini I chose was quite nice (although it had branston pickle in) and came with a small side salad. Overall a pleasant visit, with a return inevitable.

The quality of the breakfast ingredients are not great the sausage and black pudding are greasy, salty and just not what you'd expect. Also quite greasy presentation and not as good as in the past, c'mon someone taste the product it's poor.

·

Good service. Even to the point that they wouldn't sell real Xmas trees that they knew were poor quality. Other retailers would just have taken the money.

Just amazed that you can't get tap water, really disappointing when you buy cups of teas and coffee and have to buy water as well! I've read the excuse that says its due to staff shortages and covid but think there's only 1 reason for it! ÂŁÂŁÂŁStaff were lovely though and food was OK. Quite a mediocre breakfast in my opinion!
