Kirkton Inn Restaurant in East Ayrshire

Came here for lunch today with my husband & mum. Foods was lovely apart from the very sparce mashed potato with the steak pie. My mum who isn’t a big eater even commented on the tiny amount she was given. Don’t think we’ll be back when the portion sizes don’t match the price of a main meal unfortunately!

I’m can’t quite believe I am writing this as all the reviews on fb and on here are mostly 5 star and I was sure it wouldn’t disappoint. We booked this for my birthday and Mother’s Day meal, there was 6 adults 2 kids and a high chair, it was booked weeks in advance and had spoken to restaurant twice before this about booking. When we arrived they didn’t have our reservation, but luckily they had a table set up so not sure what happened. Then we sat down and got a drinks order, one family was running 20min late which maybe is where it all went Pete tong? The family arrived with the kids and then from that moment we had to ask about getting more drinks and then about an hour sitting there we requested if we could order. Our order arrived about 30 minutes later, starter was spot on no complaints. They did however come with the wrong order to start with but ok in the end. Then 40 minutes passed and we had to ask for more drinks and where our main meal was, tables that arrived after us had their main meals before us. Alas it arrived by this time we had been in restaurant 2 hours, kids were hungry and agitated. The main meals arrived and one waitress brought them out 2 at a time while other staff stood about or 2 people even set a table next to us! Most of the meals were ok, lamb was a bit tough and a steak knife was requested, the chicken in the Caesar salad was like a tough bit of leather and the salad was warm as it was put in a warm bowl, and the kids cheeseburger was so garlicky it couldn’t be eaten. We are not hard to please but when asked if everything was ok we told them politely. We rejected a puddings menu as it was already 3.30 at this point and been there since 1pm! So we sat and waited and had to ask for the bill. The bill came and we dispute the Caesar salad and burger as they were not eaten and we did tell them, thankfully they removed them from the bill. Now I said we are not hard to please and I think maybe they were just having a bad day? But this is the first time we have been here and I am so disappointed. Not sure if I will rush back.

went for breakfast which was superb once we got it!! the service let them down greatly waited nearly an hour and there were only another 2 customers in restaurant,whether it's different staff on weekends I don't know but we nearly walked out 🤔such a shame foods excellent 👌

Food was excellent and the restaurant/bar welcoming however we had a latish booking (just after 19.00) and we felt as if we were being rushed out the door. As soon as we put the last mouthful in someone was there asking if we were all done. Then the staff started to gather at the bar drinking behind us discussing colleagues and customers. Loud dance music coming from kitchen and staff drinking at the bar really doesn't create the right atmosphere.

SUPERB. From booking to walking in the door and being welcomed. Lovely experiance. And my wee dog loved her seat by the wood burner. Lovely food and gorgeous wine glasses... loving your style Kirkton Inn. And thank you to Gary and staff for your wonderful service. Above and beyond 🙌🏻

We haven't been to The Kirkton Inn for quite a few years. So we were pleasantly surprised when we called in on New Year's day on the off chance of getting lunch when we hadnt booked, only to find the beautiful transformation which had taken place. Added to this lovely ambient setting the food was delicious and the staff friendly and accommodating. Well done and thank you. We will be back!

Absolutely amazing! Service was impeccable from the friendly greeting all the way through. Staff are top notch! Food was absolutely divine! Definitely recommend the steak burger. Will be back for the dessert as all looked heavenly!

Food was good but need to update the online website for information. One member of staff was abrupt with her stance for a breakfast menue before 12 noon as stated on website we arrived 11.45 am. Like I said food was good it is in how you reply to customer's request worth going to you should try.

Our 2 visit, this time for dinner. Excellent selection of food, eating areas and bar all spotlessly clean. Our meals were piping hot and service was excellent. Staff very welcoming and friendly, & professional. Car parking around the back, but some other customers are a bit thoughtless with their cars (no fault of the Inn or its owner). Good level access for those who can't manage steps, and excellent slope access to main dining room. A lot of thought has been put into the access, decor, carpets, etc the place is really lovely. We will be back, and can take my mum who is only partially sighted and can't manage steps very well.
