Interesting not my scene but still worth a visit

Place is immaculate. Tables are cleared rapidly. Staff are friendly and if you behave yourself and don't act like a fool, you'll have a great time.

In for a quick drink on a Monday night so the place was quiet. Looked like it could be a great bar though

We were going to a charity venue, which was upstairs. You enter from a door next to the main door. There is a lift, which was a lifesaver,as my partner is disabled. To get the lift back down, you need to get a member of staff to operate it. Rosemary helped us. (She was a lovely helpful lady) The staff were very helpful and friendly. The toilet (men) was clean.I cannot comment on the downstairs part of the bar as I was not in it. I have heard good reports about the food downstairs,so I will be back soon to have a meal.

Great selection of beers, open plan and usually a good atmosphere. The door staff are shocking though.Any time I’ve been to this place I’ve always behaved well (in stark contrast to some of their clientele who go out looking for fights). I’ve always spent a fair whack of money with friends too. However, one night in mid summer, my girlfriend and I decided to go. Place was empty, the door staff asked us to sign in track and trace, we obliged no problem. I was asked to don a face mask, I informed him that I was exempt. (The rules in Scotland are clear on this, if someone says they’re exempt, then no proof is required and they must be allowed entry - denying entry on this basis is discriminatory) - when highlighting this to the door staff, they became obnoxious, rude and quickly turned into the school bully types. My girlfriend and I were denied entry and went elsewhere.I wrote a private account of this to the bar itself via their online platform, to no reply. As I genuinely like the place, minus the door bullies. I returned with my friend recently. After moving past the door staff, who were in the middle of arguing with a young guy, I was approached 5 minutes after entry (and after spending £12 at the bar on our first round) and immediately asked my name, and asked to leave. His words were “I do not have to give a reason” - my reply was why grant me entry in the first place, let me buy a drink, and then ask me to leave. Anyway, the female owner appeared, who was clearly just as unable and unwilling to reason or listen. A totally pointless and meaningless spat, borne totally out of the door staffs desire to go on power trips. Meanwhile a good well behaved and reasonably spending customer is (any time I’ve been in before it’s been easy £80-£100) asked to leave for quite rightfully not wearing a mask, by door staff on £8 an hour and hell bent on ruining your night.A real shame, as the place is great. The door staff totally and utterly ruin it.

Pleasantly surprised with this bar. Was my first time there and it was lovely, staff were very attentive, food was reasonably priced and tasty. It was very clean and much larger than I'd expected. Will definitely be going back 😊
