Nice food and nice staff, real ales are not great, some taste like vinegar the second the have go on others have floaters. I will drink cloudy beers as long as they taste as they shouldI have told the manager on multiple occasions and the beers just stay on and nothing is done about it. According to some locals this is the usual when it comes to real ales.I don't know what cellar system they run, but if they used float syphons this would alleviate the floaters and cloudy beers issues. As to the beers which taste like vinegar they need to go back to Brewery or the lines need cleaning correctly and washed out correctly afterwards.I am unaware what is causing the beer issues but staff should listen to customers, since they are not allowed to taste beers they are serving while on duty.Addition as of April 2022 after last review and a conversation with the manager himself. He has no perfect real ales. I will be helping him out by drinking some due to his sorting the issue with them.

The first time I have been to this pub since before the first lockdown. Eighteen months ago the beer was first class. A few nights ago, three of the four cask ales I tried were so badly off they must have been started a week ago. It quickly needs to get back to what it used to do because, to be honest, I can drink John Smith's in the house.

Excellent pint of Stella. Pity they go a week without having any. Big chain like this waiting a week to get a delivery. Don't think so. Time they get that sorted.

Had dinner on saturday. Extremely busy . Some of the menu sold out. But it was nice to see a full mixture of ages in the pub from babies to the more elderly all.enjoying themselves. Served really fast . And always good value for money and same quality of food in all of the outlets

We were greeted by friendly staff. We were lucky to get a seat as the restaurant was full. We ordered our food and it was served within 15 minutes even though it was busy. Food was great. I don't know how they manage to serve great food at such a busy time. I would highly recommend.

As I have said before with J.D. Wetherspoon, they offer what people want, and as a consequence they get the numbers. This is another great value pub in the centre of Saltcoats town offering all the usual fare. The prices are excellent, the staff friendly and efficient and the place is clean. I love the historical prints around the walls as I was a friend of Harry Kemps son and it is wonderful to see mementos of the great west coast variety tradition. It is also good to see recognition of the Nobel Works at Ardeer that employed so many thousands in the 20th Century. Curiously, in 1949, West Kilbride lad John Boyd Orr (who once taught at Saltcoats Public School) won the Nobel Peace Prize. On this occasion I did not try the food, but I am aware of the value of the Wetherspoon offering and the range is excellent.
