Just how luck are the people in Fairlie to have such a great local pub. Good honest pub food, well cooked. And a fantastic landlord, thank you Brian for making us so welcome

Great pub for food, well worth a visit. Landlord and all the staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. If you don't want chips then your offered baby potatoes or mash. Prices are excellent for both food and drinks. We stayed in the area and went back every night for the week.

Quick phone call re open and if dog friendly. Brian said both. Starters and main courses absolutely excellent. Nearly too much on plate but just managed. Friendly welcome by host. Well worth the visit. Thanks.PS My wife thought the home made Colesaw was tremendous.

We had been walking along the beach and asked a couple of locals where we could grab some food and they suggested this little gem, we wouldn't have noticed it at all otherwise.Such a lovely welcome from Brian the owner who quite obviously puts his heart and soul into the place.Food was plentiful and well cooked. Wish I'd tried the special rather than the safe option of Scampi. Would have loved it to be homemade tartar sauce. Jaffa cake and fudge cake absolutely brilliant!Within an hour I'd been offered a job and two locals had tried to sell us their house! 😂We can't wait to come and visit again and maybe settle there for good.

Stopped off here after a long walk. What a lovely surprise. A few of us got some of their lovely cakes. Staff were very friendly. Next time we are hoping to stop for a meal

The Cullen skink is best I have ever tasted! Even got a takeaway portion to bring home to my other half!

I've been here several times now, and I have to say, the food here is not just the only attraction. That being said, the food is absolutely incredible, albeit a little more expensive than regular "pub grub", it is, by no means, "pub grub". I'd be happy getting a serving of anything I have ordered from here in a large restaurant in a large city, and that would certainly be much more expensive! The food is phenomenal, the menu is constantly changing, the specials are rather magnificent and, really, don't get me started on dessert... There's a genius toiling away in here, I just know it.Speaking of genius, that's the other attraction of this quaint bar/eatery. The owner, Brian, is a fantastic person to talk to, to regal stories of past, present and future ambitions, to lose yourself in a pointless debate where neither party is right or wrong, all to wander away happy, and to sink another drink.I have just moved to Fairlie from living in Millport for far too many years, and while I was trying to find my feet, the owner really made me feel at home. One night, when my girlfriend and I had no microwave, no cooker, no way of heating anything up apart from a kettle, and after around 15 hours of decorating and moving things up 3 flights of stairs, I chanced my luck, and decided to nip in and see if they were still doing food...This was at half 11... The horror I felt when I was told that they weren't, and not for about 3 hours were immeasurable... I know I was chancing it, but I was exhausted, and wanted to eat a warm meal that evening.I was just about to count my losses and return back home, when Brian just asked "what is it you would like?", and my wee heart must've nearly exploded. All I wanted was some chicken and some salad for myself and my girlfriend, and he just kept offering us more and more, but I didn't want to take more than I was initially intending on getting, so I stuck with the chicken and salad, and away he went, fired up the friers once again, and back he came with not one, not two, but three portions of chicken (which I, of course, paid for in full) with the third being given to is in a small takeaway box, loaded with a whole 'extra strip' for us to take back home. This Inn is really rather fantastic, the staff are great. The food is great. The drinks are great. The atmosphere is great. If you ever find yourself in the vicinity of Fairlie, or you're in Largs and you don't mind a quick, 5 minute journey down to the Fairlie seafront, I'd highly recommend visiting The Village Inn.
