Ellisland House Hotel in South Ayrshire

Lovely place and very good food, not too expensive. Worth a visit.

Usually a nice time when we visit here. This time not so good . Don't normally have desserts when we're out but this time we had to, to make up for the starters & mains which were disappointing. Portion size appears to have taken a hit recently too, which this chain could never be faulted on previously. A pity, because they are still taking a good wedge.... Having dined here many times & know the staff quite well, you have to feel for them too...

After our recent wedding in Ayr we had booked the private dining room at The Ellisland and also bedrooms for an overnight stay. The service we received on the day from all staff was fantastic, the food was delicious and the attention to every detail was second to none. Staff were very attentive to our needs the whole day. The bedrooms were lovely and very comfortable. Very impressed overall. Allan & Angela Campbell.

My mums funeral reception for 50 people just perfect.Staff so helpful and food lovely. Surroundings very upmarket. Thanks especially to Donald. His advice about the arrangements were much appreciated especially at such a sad time. Also thanks to Mellisa Liz and all the staff for making everyone feel welcome . Stayed here for 2 nights with work.Room 1 was spacious and comfortable but small details needed work. Hooks for curtains looked like they'd been moved multiple times and done a poor job finishing.Also, the positioning of a chair and table in the window was lovely until it came time to drawer the curtains, then it was odd trying to pull them over the table.Breakfast was really good and cooked fresh but surprised they didn't have yogurt. Also slightly odd with someone doing the hoovering at breakfast time

Great food good service need to go back soon.

Lovely meal, food was delicious and reasonably priced. However, the meal was let down by the service. Our drinks order arrived at exactly the same time as our starters. Our main courses arrived without the fries and potatoes that come with them. There were no waiting staff around, so we needed to go looking to get the missing items and extra drinks. Finally, the steak one of our party ordered was undercooked, though when it was sent back and cooked slightly longer it was delicious. A lovely meal, let down by a lack of staff and some carelessness.

Nice outdoor area for seating, only two sun umbrellas and although it's not often blazing sunshine. It's nice to have cover when it is. Food was good. Service was a bit up and down. All on all a good place to eat.

Nice decor good sized table attentive staff very pleasant atmosphere. Ordered battered haddock fries salad. Fish was under cooked I sent it back. Fish not fresh batter was soggy and white in colour told it was tempura. ... won't be back in a hurry. Rest of the meals were fine.

We turned up as a couple without a reservation and were promptly sat. Service was very good, although we were sat on the one glass table in the restaurant, so eating was difficult as the plates kept racing around the table with every movement. Upon asking for the bill, we then had to wait a further 10 minutes before we eventually asked somebody to take payment, only to be told that card payments are taken at the front desk. Nobody told us this. It made us feel neglected after what was a nice dinner. Make sure you look after guests before cleaning up at the end of the night, we very nearly walked out without paying.
